Key West Tent Camping was created by skinstains
Hello all, This is my first post and I apologize if it is in the wrong spot.

I'm looking to ride my motorbike down to the Key west campground to do a little tent camping. I have looked around on the site and could find precious little about tenting it. Am I missing something obvious (besides an RV) ? I would like to know some of the details for tent campers. Such as how long can I stay, How much does it cost, Is it cheaper for 100% DAV's and what exactly is required to bring a (completely muffled) motorbike in to the campground ? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

The best advice is probably to call the campground. I don't know if you found the Recreation Facilities Info tab on this website (top left). If you navigate to the Key West info, it says they have 10 tent sites, and I think it was $10-$15 dollars a night. You're probably at the $10 rate. It also says there is a 14 day limit on "hook up" sites. I'm guessing that does not apply to the tent sites. Key West gets very busy this time of year. Some others will probably add to this info and calling is always an option. Happy Holidays and welcome to the group.

Skinstains,

Floridakamper is correct. All of the information is listed on the website except for your motorbike. There's even photos of the tent sites and more in the video. Your motorbike needs to be street legal (licensed) like any other motor vehicle driven on base.

Thanks guys, I have seen the phone number and will have to use it Monday. I was hoping not to bother the folks who work there with a bunch of dumb questions. So much for that. I was hoping that someone here had first hand experience with a scenario like mine. I have seen the picture with the motorbike by the tent, however I will need to know what type of safety gear is required. I always use a helmet, boots, gloves and usually a leather jacket as well as long pants. I'm hoping that they don't require a reflective vest or any other over-the-top gear. I was also wondering if there is an "overflow" lot for tent campers as the site didn't seem to mention one. At least I didn't see it mentioned anywhere. I was also looking for a schematic or map of all the sites so I could kind of get an idea of where the tent sites are in the grand scheme of things. Not that that really matters because I'm going to set up where they tell me to. I am just excited to get there and want to keep busy learning about it. Thanks again guys.

I think we are in tent overflow conditions right now. That situation will probably go away after the 1st of January. They are putting tents in any available space in the dry-camping area.

Thanks for all the advise / help folks. I called down to NASKW and found out that I need long sleeves, long pants, boots, gloves, a helmet and a reflective vest to ride my motorbike on base. I also emailed The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and found out that a salt water fishing license is required for fishing from the beach even on base. I am looking to reach NASKW around 14/15 Feb and to leave around 5/6 March heading to Manatee Cove Campground to stay there 'till 10/11 March to head to Daytona to check out the motorbike racing before heading home. Anyone here going to watch the races in Daytona ?
