We will be visiting Canada in our RV in 2014. Do the Canadians have FamCamps? Will the bases/posts recognize US military ID and permit access to commisssary/PX? Is there a resource listing the Canadian bases/FamCamps?

Here's the link to a directory of Canadian Military Campgrounds.

Yes, US Military can use these campgrounds with our ID card. While I'm not positive, I believe US Military can also use Canadian commissary and exchanges.

The link worked for me but you have to drill down a bit..... "Public Files", then "Misc Files."

It's there, but as stated - you need to "drill down" to it.

Here's the direct link.

Thank you, but do you know if there is an update of any sort? the guide is about 10-12 years old and I have not been able to find anything newer on the net.

I haven't found anything newer either. However, recreational facility locations don't change often.

I haven't seen that guide before, but if you are looking at a particular province, asking for the provincial visitors guide also list the military facilities within the province, or at least the one I just got for BC did. From it I was able to get to the facility website.

Hank – Do not despair, yet! We sent for brochures for all the Atlantic Provinces in anticipation of our planned 2017 summer visit, and did receive them all, though it took over a month for all to be received (PEI took almost two months!). Not certain when you submitted your requests, but possibly those provinces not responding may be awaiting the new 2018 brochures, which they will then send you. JMHO

Ok, still have not heard anything other than the one from the territories about stuff. wrote to the canadian military asking about MWR and got this:
All our Canadian Armed Forces campgrounds are listed here:
www.cafconnection.ca/National/Programs-S...unds-and-Cabins.aspx
Please contact them directly as the services vary between locations.
Best regards,

sent a message to the one near BC and got no reply at least 3 weeks. Wrote asking about the Voyage magazine and got no replies from CAF or the magazine. Seems it might have been a 1 and done? Anyhow seems there are only about 5 rv parks as that is all thats listed and only the one out west. So need to find out I guess what is available from other rv parks along the way any recommendations? will be 2 to 3 folks going in rvs so need to know whats out there.

TIA

Hank – I am not certain I understand how you requested the various provincial travel brochures. I went to the website for each province we planned to visit, located their brochure request button and entered the necessary info. As you point out, there are few Canadian military-operated campgrounds, but those provinces that have a military CG, list them in the campground section of their respective brochures.

Hope this helps – Good luck
