This small campground doesn’t have much to recommend it. The $15 daily rate is a good value and all sites are level with full hookups. It is within walking distance of the commissary and exchange which is not always a good thing – at 6:00 AM this morning, large trucks were idling a few feet from my site while waiting to enter the commissary loading docks. There are no amenities at the campground – no bathhouse, no laundry, no Wi-Fi, no office or lounge area. A camp host is on site but check-in and payment must be done at the MWR office which is about a quarter mile away. I had to use the dumpster behind the commissary. No signs to direct you to the campground. The sites are close together similar to most private campgrounds. At some sites, a double length of sewer hose or an extension for the power cord is necessary to reach the utilities. Good place to stay while visiting New Bern, a lovely, historic town.

First I want to say that Jeff, the camp host, is outstanding. The campground needs allot of work. Hook ups are shared in many cases and max is 30 Amps. I had to run an extension over 50 feet to obtain 20 amps. The sewer hose had to have an added link to get the needed length of 30 plus feet. Due to the age of the water connections, ours and our neighbors leaked the entire time. There is no community restroom or wash facility. You can get WIFI at the Sub-Way which is within walking distance between the BX and commissary. All sites were full maybe because it was the weekend of the annual flying show. I would not recommend this Famcamp for other than an overnight.

We stayed one week early April. The camp host Jeff was exceptional. He called us prior to arriving to give us directions and ask if we needed anything. Then met us when we arrived to help us settle in. There was another host which I failed to get his name. He was attentive also. This is a small park located next to everything, like commissary, exchange etc. The only downside is no laundry. However there is one close by on base.

Just stayed for a couple of days in a Class A. Site, crushed stone, was level, with paved TOAD parking area next to RV. Power was 30A & 50A, correct polarity, easy reach on water, electric and sewer. Several covered trash cans were available and the campground area was clean and maintained. I was greeted and briefed by Jeff the campground resident host. Jeff handled everything and even provided a copy of the Base newspaper and provided TV listings and points of interest and available services. If you have a DOD sticker you can enter either gate. I didn't have one for the RV and expected a laborious process, however they couldn't have been more than helpful at the Pass and ID office just to the right outside the main gate. As you approach the main gate make sure your in the far right lane to make a quick right into the Visitors parking lot, the lot is not large and is set up for vehicles smaller than a RV so you will have to span a few spots. Have Your ID,Drivers License, Registrations and Insurance documents. If you have a motorcycle you'll also need a MSF Course Completion Card. LP Gas is available on Base but not at the Campground. A service station is located very close to the campground, but only gasoline, no diesel. No designated pet areas, however there is more than adequate exercise areas around the tennis courts adjacent to the campground. It's worth the stop and we'll get back as soon and as often as we can.

C.H. left this review using the Directory software: It had been a few years since we last stopped here. We had called for a reservation about 10 days prior. The ITT office takes down your request and passes it to Jeff, the CG Host. He called later that day to confirm the date and our requirements based on rig size, etc. He called again the day before our arrival just confirm we were still coming and to make sure we knew how to get to the CG. Shortly after our arrival he came over to say hello and ask if everything were OK. He is definitely a major asset. One can pay Jeff directly with cash or check; paying at the ITT office (on the far side of the Exchange in the Video Store building enables one to use a credit card, if desired. ITT is open until 1700 M-F. The campground is small, but very handy to the Commissary/Exchange complex. No bathhouse.

We were here for about a month. The very best thing about the campground is the host, Jeff! We have never been at a campground where the host was so helpful. It is a small campground which does give it a family feel about it. We enjoyed being able to walk over to the BX/Commissary. We will be back. This campground is a great place to visit!

Very small, nice campground. The campground host, Jeff, definitely deserves 5 stars. He is the heart and soul of this campground. When you come here, you feel like a member of his family. He stops buy to check on you and to see if you have any questions. He has a wealth of information about the area. After talking with Jeff we realized we need to come back another time as there are several historical sites we need to visit. When we went to the commissary, we ran into Jeff again and he asked if we found everything we needed in the store and also asked if we needed help getting our groceries back to our coach. Can you believe that? The sites are a bit close together and there are no bathhouse facilities. We are in a motor home so that wasn't a problem for us. Site was level. Again, we cannot thank Jeff enough for the help in securing our site and all the assistance he lend once we arrived.

The campground host went beyond the call of duty to get us a full hookup spot during the busy air show weekend. This is a small campground, with a horseshoe shaped drive. The site we were in easily accommodated our big rig with water, sewer, and 50A electric. We had no problems setting up. The commissary, exchange, and movie theater are within walking distance. The bowling alley is a short drive away. There are also three marinas, a golf course, and the usual amenities found at major military bases. Atlantic Beach is just down US70E. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again next time I'm in the area. I hope they expand and improve this campground. A new location near the water would make this a major vacation destination for military families.

We used this RV park as a place to visit Oriental & New Bern. The NC Ferry is close and free for autos... Not sure about Big Rigs? The site we had backed to the trees along the perimeter so we weren't back-to-back with anyone. CAUTION: If you don't have a DOD sticker, you need have to go to the Pass & ID Building for a pass, just before the "gate". If you enter the gate without one, you'll have to make a very hard U-turn to get back there. We attended MUMFEST in New Bern that weekend and it was very enjoyable... We have a 40 foot Class A...

J.F. left this review using the Directory software: As other reviews stated, this campground is small. Jeff, the host, is doing his best to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Hookups may require extensions depending on site. The "back to back" sites are old pull throughs modified into 2 sites. Campground was full on Wednesday when we arrived but there were several open sites when we left on Sunday. Make sure you have reservations and that they know what rig you have. We are a 40' Class A with 4 slides. It was tight but do able. You can walk to the commissary, bring the cart home, off load, and then return the cart. Rumor has it that funding has been approved for a new campground down "by the water". We will definitely be stopping by again and hope that Jeff will still be there doing his thing.

After reading the other positive reviews, we made reservations at this park. Upon arrival it was not clear how to find our spot or check in. We had to call the ITT and then were told to walk around and find the site with our name. No one was there to help. The site was small and very difficult to get into. We were back to back with another camper. The utilities were far away and difficult to reach. There really was no parking for our car because someone else was in the spot next to our site and they were not inclined to move. We had a site right on the access road to the back of the commissary and at 6 am the delivery trucks started arriving and woke us up every morning that we were there. We will not be returning to this campground.

Been here several times over the years and concur with the earlier positive comments. For the first time, it was essentially full...we got the last spot. Neighbors say it has been this way for at least several weeks. Maybe the base will expand it or maybe this is atypical? If not, homesteading could become an issue here too.

Small campground; pull-thru sites have been made into two back-in sites with shared electrical outlet (one 50 amp and one 30 amp), still plenty of room. Camp Host, Jeff, is great. Volunteered to help get situated on the site and checked daily to ensure all was well. Great location next to commissary/PX complex. Plenty of places to walk the dog. Quiet, even though located next to the base daycare center. Only gave a 3 for amenities as there is no bath house and laundry facilities. Would definitely stay again.

Being next door to the commissary/exchange is fantastic! Full-hook ups but no restroom/showers or laundry..oh well. Location and the campground host -Jeff offset that. There is no diesel sold on base and no recyling at campground and the Naval hospital is only a clinic now. You could walk to movie theater and post office and library! Jeff is a super host and helped us when we had rv leak problems and needed to extend-would come back! $90. weekly rate and $360. monthly rate
