Lori and Julian who take care of the RV park do it with such professionalism. The stay was fantastic. Double lots and the atmosphere was great with the sound of freedom (jets and Helio's) flying over periodicially. Highly recommend this Diamond in the jewel. We will always come back here when ever in the area. My son is stationed here currently. All the necessary shopping and recreation is so close and available. Thanks again to Lori and Julian for running and taking care of a great RV park. Jobs well done.

A little out of the way but an excellent park. Sites were large with concrete pads. Well manicured cable TV good WiFi and golf course. Nancy was a great park staff. This park is as good as Kings Bay or Pelican Roost.

This is a great clean rv park with new pads. The sewer was about 16 ft away on the site I used but still everything was great. There is no playground but they are right next to the water and had great wildlife. We saw a bald eagle flying by and lots or birds. The host was nice and the DOD office/shop lady was great and really helpful.

A bit off the track of 95, but close enough going up 17 to make useful. A hidden treasure from the Corps. We had been through it, but never stayed over. Excellent everything! Concrete pads, big enough that we didn't need to unhitch, water, electric, cable, wifi, sewer. Bathhouse was clean. Hope it stays this nice for a long time!

L.E.S. left this review using the Directory software: - Ee arrived just after closing and were greeted by Lori who had assigned us a spot via phone in route. Upon parking the camp host Julian introduced himself and took my name and then offered any assistance setting camp. Very courteous and professional staff. The park is immaculate. New bath house, double pad, power pad and cable ta-boot. Very nice park! We took a trip around Emerald Isle on Lori's advice. Spectacular public beach for miles and miles with free parking. It was 68 degrees in December and we owned the whole beach to ourselves. The park is very peaceful minus the occasional free air show. Overall AWESOME experience. We'll be back...

Grounds were very clean and well lit, and amenities were in great condition. Camp host was helpful and very professional. Please note the camp host can only accept cash, so either arrive while the office staff are present or pay by credit card over the phone. As noted by others, there are no fire rings or picnic tables at the sites, but there are a number of picnic tables for on a grassy area near the middle of the park. The showers and laundry are clean well maintained. This park is very quite. There are no playgrounds or other "recreation" areas for kids in the park but there are a number of recreation areas on post and in the area. The electrical/water/cable hook ups are near the front of each site, so one may have pull forward more than normal or use extensions to reach the hooks ups. Absolutely a park we'd come back too when traveling or exploring eastern North Carolina.

Nice setting with new concrete pads. No picnic table on site but are in the middle of the park. Nice laundry facility with a lounge to sit and wait. Best military golf course we have ever played. $25 per night with 30 amp service. Office help were very friendly. Will camp here again.
August 10-15, 2014
We stayed August 10 - 15. The sites were very spacious. The site we were on was slanted from the back toward the front and again from the driver side to the passenger side. It looks like this is by design to allow for water drainage. So, be prepared to do some leveling. If you have a Class C like me with no leveling system then make sure to have leveling blocks to drive up on. Remember the fridge works better when level; especially if operating on propane. The grounds were very well kept. The laundry and lounge were clean. The TV in the lounge needs some repair as the picture comes and goes. Not a problem really as you do not camp to watch TV. Three are three restroom/showers for the women and three for the men. Each is a separate room with a door that locks. Very spacious room and shower. The only down side was that I called April 14th and reserved a space. I checked in on Sunday and the Camp Host did not have my information. He assigned me a spot for the night. Monday morning I checked into the office and she too could not find my information. Thankfully I had all the data that Lori had provided me on the phone back on April 14th. Computers are prone to lose information! I will be back here again!

This new park is a jewel with its generous spaces and well kept premises. The staff members are extremely accommodating and friendly, the showers, restrooms, and laundry facilities are clean. Bring your kayak or canoe and take advantage of Pelican Point's waterway, a short drive from the RV park. Base stickers are not needed to enter this facility. We did use the main gate but others at the RV Park indicated they used Slocum with only their ID card. We came through Slocum with the car after an excursion and only needed to show an ID card. Call ahead to verify access control.
April 14-27, 2014
This is an excellent RV park with nice, wide pull-thru concrete sites and great hook-ups. It is a short walk to get down to the the river for picnicking and fishing. The WiFi was great. There is a nice commissary and exchange on base as well as several fitness facilities. There is no recycling at the RV park, but a comprehensive recycling facility is located about a mile from the park on Access Road. The $150 per week fee is very fair. We have stayed at numerous military RV parks across the country, and this is one where we would definitely stay again.

The camp host took my reservation and the office called and confirmed it. Campground was fairly easy to find and all the gates recognized my Homeland Security decal on the vehicles. The park is still very stark looking with just a small cherry tree at each site and no other landscaping. Lawn is mostly weeds mowed very short. Sites are about 45' wide, one after another. Wish there were some shrubbery between. Brand new post for utilities with two hangers for cords. Excellent power and water pressure. But not even a picnic table. There's a nice community room with TV and a good laundry room. Four picnic tables sit in the middle of one loop. Restrooms/showers are individual but gender-assigned with three each. I can't praise them enough. Everything was functional and spotless. Is there a reason the dumpster was outside the park on the road? Nor were there any recycle containers. $25/night is too high for April and October. It's not a prime location, although the coast and historic sites were within driving distance. I see little reason for a checkout of 1100 - it's not like they have to clean the site or rake the concrete. The manager was looking forward to improvements and expansion.
J.A. left this review using the Directory software: - We enjoyed our stay. Nice blacktop roads to ride our bikes or walk for long distances. The marina had a nice picnic area. People were very friendly there. I would not hesitate to return to this location.

Gorgeous campground! BEWARE - you cannot enter station at either gate if you do not have a DOD sticker on your RV or tow car! We had to pull into a small parking lot to register both vehicles and it was a nightmare getting in and out. We are retired Air Force and that entity no longer requires DOD sticker. Knowing this in advance would have really been helpful. Lauri, who runs the office is a sweetheart and very helpful, although she did not know about the DOD sticker. The campground is brand new and beautiful and worth every penny. Exchange and commissary are very adequate, and about 3 miles down the road.
