We stayed on Moose Loop, with electric/water. They started putting small cabins on some of the sites, one that I was assigned. They put the cabin at the power pedestal, and I did not have an extension cable to hook up with. The staff said they could not move us; all sites were booked. So, the first night we used generator. The next two days we just moved to a different site, since there were 8 sites that were empty for the rest of our stay. I found that the staff could care less about helping anyone. I asked to see the manager, but he was on leave and the staff did not have authority to do anything. Nice sites spaced out, too bad it is poorly run and poor planning on adding cabins.

Nice park just inside the gate of Ft. Wainwright. Rv park is spacious and fairly level. Fees are 30/night for water and electricity. Park could be much nicer if a little effort was put towards it. Outdoor Dec staff friendly, but not overly concerned with state of showers or how clean they are.

Change in management and as a result of COVID the bathrooms were very clean! Thank you ODR. New staff has really taken ownership. Still pretty limited on # of w/e sites. The dump station is tight but not too bad. We’ll stay there again.

Very very roughly run campground. MWR bldg which is in charge of the two campgrounds is located 200 meters to west southwest and there is little oversight. Bathrooms are located at the MWR bldg. The bathrooms and laundry facility were very dirty that they gave my wife and momma something to do while washing clothes. Really needs just a little oversight. Half the campground doesn’t have power because three plus years a contractor accidentally cut the power while digging. And in 3 years there has been no visible movement to fix the issue. Sites are level-ish and very well spaced apart. The golden heart city is right outside the front gate which is very convenient to the campground. A shopette is with walking distance.

Location top notch. Staff friendly but not focused on RV Park. Double bookings, overstating reservation, taking any site desired, etc. Park full time resident in Itasca class A let their black dog run wild..never leashed. Told staff, they ignored. Dog nearly attacked two other guests. Overall great base and facilities. RV Park unkempt, lawn overgrown, sites dirty, messy.

Electric 20/30/50 & H2O on at 6 sites. Water only sites and dry sites also. We were fortunate to have Site 30 Electric and Water Pull-thru. Sanitary dump station convenient on access road. Laundry expensive IMHO, $3.25 wash; $2.00 dry. Base facilities superb PX, Commissary, Outdoor Recreation. Less than 2-miles downtown Fairbanks. Great place to visit.

I was at this rv park for two weeks. I was going to stay 30 days. The park hosts were fantastic. I wish I could say the same for the park. The restrooms were in poor shape. Some people didn’t even lock the doors when using them. The manager tried to excuse their way out of the poor facilities. Over half of the original park was given up for base housing. If I go back to Fairbanks it will definitely not be my first choice. It was a joke.

The Rec office is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Camp Hosts Jim and Becky(?)are the greatest. We were scheduled into a dry site but Jim was able to upgrade us to a site with water. Jim came by the camp site and brought us maps of the Post and of Fairbanks. These maps were very helpful. Jim pointed out a few of the highlights around town and the fact that the Expressways around town resembled Santa's sleigh. Jim explained why there were power pedestals at the campsites but no power to some including ours in site 39. He also advised that we could use our generator 24/7 if we wanted to. We always try to keep the generator use to a minimum. Jim also advised that he had a blue tank and ATV available for the campers to use to facilitate dumping the holding tanks without moving the RV. I thought this was particularly unusual but a nice way to make up for not having sewer available. The office staff was very friendly and helpful. We didn't utilize the laundry or showers so cannot attest to there condition. Easy access through the main gate with the exception of the traffic circle as you approach the gate. It gets a bit tricky with a 43' 5th wheel. $18/night seemed a bit expensive for water only but at least the water quality was 100% better than Eielson Fam Camp. I wish more people would leave their reviews. It would help to see trends good or bad. It's been over 2 years since the last review.

I want to add my positive reviews of the work Becky and Jim were doing and the on going work to improve the sites......it was amazing the work Jim was doing with just himself.....not to be outdone, Becky was helping folk get into sites and attend to the social events the campground had to offer. Thank you Jim and Becky for your tireless work....

Hi, Jim & Becky Fuller have returned as Camp Hosts for 2013. We now have water in the RV Park. We have 15 sites available with electric & water (1 with 20 amp, 5 with 30 amp and 9 with 20/30/50 amp). In addition, there are 5 with water only. All sites in Moose Loop are $20 per night or $110 per week. Maximum stay is one month (extension may be approved pending availability). Showers & Laundry are available in the ODR office building located on the Chena River with a boat launch. Showers are 50 cents for 16 minutes. Laundry is $3.25 per washer load and $2.00 for dryer load. Moose Loop is located in Glass Park and just around the bend from the office. No Wifi here in Glass Park however free Wifi is available at the Post Library, Exchange, LFCAC, Nugget Lanes and the Warrior Zone. The Chena Cove Campground has not been completed and no upgrades have been made to Moose Loop. We also have 5 dry sites in the old Denali Loop directly across from the ODR office at $12 per night. Due to the dryness of Alaska and tundra, we cannot permit campfires in the RV park. Tenting is also available in the large recreation area at $12 per night. Office is closed Tues & Wed. Office hours are Mon, Thurs, Fri: 1000-1800; Sat: 1000-1500; Sun: 1200-1800. Discount Tickets are available for Riverboat Discovery, some activities at Denali Park & Gold Dredge No. 8. Safe travels and we'd love to have you come to stay with us.

Impossible to get a site through Outdoor Rec but new Camp Hosts will work with you. Park quite rough around the edges. Some wooded sites are nice and private. Some sites are right on road and some are side-by-side. Utilities being slowly restored. Yes, showers and laundry are expensive and bathrooms get very messy. Many on-base facilities. Easy access to all of Fairbanks. It must be judged by Alaska and not Lower 48 standards. And SO much better than Eielson.

Jim & Becky Fuller should be commended for all their work to make this RV park what it is today. They deserve "Camp Hosts of the Year" award. The only complaint I have is the laundry $3.50 to wash and $2.00 to dry. That's a bit much. It is an easy walk to the Fairbanks Visitors Center. The commissary and exchange are well stocked. For rainy days, the Fitness Center and pool are nice. The round trip drive to the Arctic Circle can be done in one day. If I would every return to Alaska, I would stay here again.

This an update from our May posting. We have the road and site areas widened and groomed. All sites are large enough for the biggest rigs. We are working to save Glass Park. We have a variety of W/E sites, some have only 30 amp but others have 30/50. The one site I mentioned earlier had a tree fall on it which makes it a dry site as it has not been repaired. There are remnants of the previous Denali Loop (5 sites) nearer to the recreation office which we also can use as dry sites (much better atmosphere than Walmart). The components were completely stripped out but are quite usable. The laundry and restrooms are at the rec office as you enter the park. Moose Loop is the only one currently with W/E (now 15)sites. Park remains open until sometime in September depending on the weather. The office is open 11-7 Thurs thru Mon. One of the great things about Glass Park is that you have the "way out of town" atmosphere while being right at the front gate of Ft Wainwright. Everything is so close. Come visit and tell all your friends we are open this year. We have been full including the dry sites at times so don't hesitate to call for a reservation. We've been blessed this year to have friends come and stay while on their Alaskan trips who we'd met while we were camp hosts in GA. There are separate fees for water only site and for dry sites. When approaching the gate, stay in the left lane as entrance to the park is just inside the gate to the left. Hope this has helped any military who have had questions regarding the park for the 2011 season as it is not in the Military CG book at this time.

This campground was great for the money. The camp hosts were wonderful and the camp spot itself was great with lots of wonderful trees and privacy. The only thing I would have loved was free wi-fi access, but everything else was great.

We have volunteered as Camp Hosts this year to open it up a little and widen the sites. There are 8 sites with W/E. There is one loop available after the housing construction took out two loops a few years back. Of the remaining 12 sites, 11 have water at this time. One W/E pole was removed. There are 4 electrical boxes that appear to have been vandalized thereby affecting the other sites. We are in a wonderful location so very close to the main gate and thereby close to anything in Fairbanks and the juncture of Airport Way, Richardson Hwy and Steese Hwy. The commissary is open 10 AM - 7 PM or 1000-1900 hrs daily, except for holidays. Wooded environment. We enjoy the lower cost compared to the available campgrounds in the area. Looking forward to a good summer here in the Golden Heart of Alaska.

This FamCamp is conveniently located about 3 miles South of Fairbanks. All sites are well kept and well separated from each other. There is a dump station adjacent to the Rec. Center as well as a potable water hookup. This is a great place to use while visiting the Fairbanks area.

This was the most disappointing military rv park I have been in view of what they charge. One no sewer hooks ups and if you want a shower get lots of quarters cause your going to pay for it and dirty the shower/bathrooms are cleaned daily and made dirty immediately by gate guards and passerbys. They bragged about 50 amp service but they had 3 or 4 rv spots hooked up to a 100 amp breaker so the whole 3 weeks we were there we lost power two or 3 times a day. The grass and weeds were really high and the mosquitos rule was so happy to arrive at Fort Richardson which was a so much better service and personnel.
