Campground Information
Eight rental trailers are available for rent to authorized military personnel. These trailers are located at the Eagle's Rest RV Park, a commercial RV Park. Eielson AFB Outdoor Recreation also has a small office located at the RV Park. The trailers have bathrooms and small kitchen areas, which include a stove, refrigerator, microwave and sink and kitchen packs (utensils, plates, pots, pans, etc.). The customer is responsible for providing their own bedding, linens, pillows, towels, etc. Linens are not available for check-out. Rates vary based on size of rental trailer.

Weather Information

Valdez is located on the north shore of Port Valdez, a deepwater fjord in Prince William Sound. Valdez offers some of the best fishing, hiking and terrific potential for whale sightings. It is the southern terminus of the trans-Alaska oil pipeline. Eielson AFB operates 8 vacation rental trailers and a couple RV Sites for military use only in a commercial campground.

NOT a military campground or RV Park.

We did NOT stay in the Eielson AFB trailers, but did stay, in our class C, for 3 days at the host RV park: Eagle's Rest. The park is located in the town of Valdez within easy walking distance of most of the town. There is a Safeway grocery and a Tesoro Gas/Convenience store within 100 yards of the park. Downtown Valdez and the waterfront stores and restaurants are within a couple blocks. The trailers looked new and were 28-29" bunkhouse models with the most common being a Jayco 29BHQ. There is a AF office trailer located with the rental units. The facilities at the RV park are nice with good showers and an excellent laundry. The park itself is, like many Alaska RV Parks we stayed at, a gravel field with little or no grass/trees. Otherwise it is a great location surrounded by mountains and we regularly see eagles flying over or resting in the trees that border the property.
