Otter Lake has 17 no hook up RV spaces and 7 tent spaces. The listed info above is not correct. The RV spaces are about three times larger than most RV sites and the space between each site is huge. Even if the park was full each RVer would have tons of room. When we camped here for two nights we were the only people in the park - no other RVers and no tenters. Otter Lake is about five miles from the main part of the Fort Richardson side of JBER. The last mile or so of road to the campground is dirt, but it's a decent road. The campground is so isolated there are lots of moose here - we saw six in one day. Black bears are also frequently seen and bear precautions must be taken seriously. The only possible negative about the campground is it is in the flight path for the Elmendorf planes. They don't fly too often and we actually enjoyed seeing and hearing them pass low overhead. Distant train noise can be heard a handful of times throughout the day and night. We loved this place and much prefer it over the Elmendorf famcamp and the RIchardson travel camp.

Visited the Otter Lake Recreation Area and was pleasantly surprised. Beautiful lake with wonderful mountains in the background. There's cabins, a boat house, boat rentals, and camping sites on the north end of the lake. Not an RV park, but rustic camping in a beautiful setting. I can see this being a popular location during the summer. I just don't understand why they charge more for an RV than a tent.
