Guess I can't give this site a rating as I was not allowed to stay. My rig, although self contained didn't qualify because I had a dry toilet .. which is required in many off road places like the White Rim Trail in Moab .. chemical toilets not allowed. They decided that because I had no holding tank I couldn't stay there .. you don't need a holding tank for a dry toilet .. that's the purpose. But, the staff couldn't be convinced and I was not allowed there. Left and went to Ft.Tuthill. This is the only FamCamp I've had this kind of problem with.
We have been here for 6 weeks. Dont plan on moving soon, as I took a job on YPG, so we will be here for a bit. Rate is 435 monthly. Not a bad deal being that its FHU with cable. There have been some changes since others posted. No box is required for CATV as of about a year ago. You can just have your TV scan and get a huge range of channels. Power and water is good. Water here is hard, so a softener will help you out. Make sure to have a regulator. PSI here is high. Water is just fine for drinking, its treated. There is some construction going on at the gate. Be sure to call to get latest info. As of now, large vehicles, RV's will need to use Walker gate. Wifi is supposed to be down as of right now, when working, word is its not the best. Most people out here use Starlink as do I. Works great. Staff here is friendly and easy to work with. Let's get to shopping.... There is a small gas station (no diesel) that is well stocked. There is also a small commissary on base. Has all that you would need. Prices are decent. Don't buy into the hype on it being too costly. It's not bad and well stocked. Right now, they are about 80% full. There are some spots, but in the past few weeks it's been filling up. It wouldn't hurt to call first. I can see why this place gets so many positive reviews.
This is one of the nicest military facilities we have found on our travels and one of the best deals around at only $435/mo FHU. We called the office in October and were advised they were only about 60% full. So we gradually headed over that way arriving on November 1, 2022. True to their word, we had our pick of so many sites that we were hard-pressed to choose a favorite, but we eventually found one we liked best at the back end of the upper loop. Even though YPG is about 24 miles from Yuma, we rated the location as a 5 because you can get almost anything you really need from the commissary and exchange store (convenience store) here on a day-to-day basis and it's really a quiet, sleepy place, far safer and nicer than many other public campgrounds around the area, especially closer to Yuma. The staff here is super nice. There is a sense of community here and of people helping people and watching out for each other. After having stayed here a month, we're thinking about making this place an annual winter spot from now on. There are weekly events that folks can participate in. Today was a free lunchtime barbecue with base leadership in participation, so we got to hear from everyone from the base CO on down; a very nice and fun affair. As of December 1, tomorrow, I would say they will only be about 70% full, so don't be afraid to call ahead and come on over. Talk to Mindy or Annette at the office for up-to-date info. They'll be glad to help you and the whole community will be glad to see you if you come. Cheers!
This is our second visit this year. We found it easy to call the office and check availability ahead of arriving. Our weekly rate this time was $155, so I think rates have gone up a little, but still a good bargain. The commissary is small, but had what we needed. We do wish they had diesel at the gas station on base. We enjoy the area and community, so we will be again.
Called the same day we arrived and was able to find a full hook up site for the month. Front office and campers have been very nice and the weather is excellent. Camp sites and facilities are nice, wifi is good but not great. Base facilities are small but all are within walking distance and provide the needed necessities. We would come back any time.
Called day before arrival and was told sites will be available. Arrived early afternoon and checked into an electric and water site. Only staying one night. We stayed here several years ago and pretty sure were in the same site. Is a quiet famcamp with lots of other campers. There is a small commissary, open until 7pm on Thursday night. Wi-fi is available but signal at site is pretty weak. Was told signal better in community room but didn’t check.
Just wanted to update that the monthly rate is now a whopping $435.00...The day and weekly rate went up as well but not sure what they are. Seriously, this is a nice clean camp at a great rate. Has spacious sites, good water pressure, no issues with sewer, good electric, free cable, decent wifi and good cell service.
This park is down on people staying do to COVID. Park still has a few vacancies which is unusual. In my opinion this park is still one of if the best parks in system. 395 per month and that includes electric. They can not seem to get cable up and going: something about needing a box at site and they don,t have them. COVID is none exist on post. The staff is very good about face mask and sanitation. The RV’ers not so good. Of course the weather is great. Will be back next year.
Stopped at Desert Breeze on our way south from Lake Havasu City en-route to Yuma and Algadonnes, Mexico. Teresa, the manager, was very welcoming and promptly checked us in on a Friday. Site was gravel with a small concrete pad. Friendly residents in the park. We participated in a pot-luck breakfast and everyone was welcoming and we had a very nice selection of breakfast items. Small commissary and exchange with gas station (no diesel). We enjoyed our stay and would return.
