This park has a lot of pros and a lot of cons. It's a beautiful setting and wonderful to be right on the lake and have access to swimming, boating, fishing, hiking, and wildlife viewing. The price is good and the staff are very friendly. On the other hand, the one women's shower has a broken bracket for a wand showerhead, so you have to either hold the wand the entire time or get tricky and pinch it between the wall and the foldup bench, and then you have water at your hips/stomach but at least you have both hands free for washing. This wouldn’t be an issue if there were sewer hookups and you could use your own shower. No dump station at the park either so be prepared to take it with you or drive over to Fisher’s Landing and pay $5 to dump there. The park is way off the beaten path which is nice for a quiet setting, but the last 3 miles or so is a rough gravel road. It gets old every time you want to go sightseeing or into town for essentials. They do have a general store and some essentials on site, which is helpful. But the store was often closed early or at random times during our stay. The RV sites are adequate but they are very tight. There's not a lot of privacy or personal space. The cabins look like they would be nice and you'd have more amenities that might make for a more private and pleasant experience.

Although I would rate this facility a solid 4, my wife would rate it a minus 4. Unless you have Verizon, there is no phone. No WIFI. No laundry. No sewer or dump station. Excellent camp host. No refund when your wife says, "I hate this place, there's nothing for me to do". Fishing wasn't good either, but to be fair, I didn't get to fish that much.

The camp has some big changes coming. A new team has taken over management. Docks that have been sitting on a dirt pile for around 7 years are going to be put in the water, they won't be used by the campers until they get electricity to charge our trolling motors. The camp is a fishing camp, which is why most people come here. I am afraid they going to make changes that will screw things up. A lot of campers are talking about not coming next year.

Website needs updated. They got rid of the Game room, Pool table, and TV Room. Nice place overall. But if you forget something in the cabins, like a ring or watch, you'll never get it back, the maids grab it and deny everything. Sticky little fingers. Triple check before leaving. Water is terrible, showers sting your eyes. Bring your own water. Also if it rains, which it rarely does, but it happens, you will be stuck there since its just a mud road for 5 miles back to pavement. The Hosts Mike and Dennis are the only thing holding this place together, and they are super nice and helpful.

This is a great fishing campsite with very limited facilities. The camp is off the highway about 10 miles with the last 4 miles all gravel. The restrooms should be rebuilt not remodeled, very rough condition. Yuma is about 35-40 miles south of this location with lots to see and do.

My family and I have been camping in RV's and the onsite Park Models and Cabins since 1998. Mike and Dennis have always been great host. The park is clean and gets better with every stay.

Two week stay in RV with a visit by a bunch of family that stayed in a cabin for a weekend. Managers Mike and Dennis made everyone welcome. Always enjoy our stay and sharing our experience with family was a plus. Remember that this is a fishing camp with few amenities and lots of dust. Just the way we like it!

We made a last min change and stayed here. The location was beautiful. We didn't have much interaction with the staff past the time we arrived. He was very helpful backing in to spot it was dark so he used his carts lights to guide us in. The spots are very tight to get into but once we set up the other campers were very friendly. Location was very pet friendly.

No dump station, no sewer hookups, NOT big rig friendly. Sites 1-4 are 10 feet apart..very crowded (the other sites are better, but not much). The city water is locally treated and smells terrible. The bathrooms are clean, but old and smelly. The road into the camp is suitable for buckboards..not your big Motorhome..go slow! Dirt roads mean lots of dust. So much for the bad news. The good news is that the two managers are great people that do a great job of running the place. The lake is very nice and is great for kayaking or other boating. The camp is pretty quiet..a bit noisy on the weekends with lots of people enjoying their time off. As it was noted before..this is a fishing camp and they like it that way. It is a 25 minute (one way) drive to Yuma. To the base at Yuma Proving Grounds it is 15 minutes one way. The fishing is pretty good..the sunsets are spectacular!

Another great stay. Mike and crew do a great job of making you welcome. Some sites are small and not really good for large units with slides. This not a resort. It is a fishing camp and that's the way we like it!

We stayed here in January and had the best time! The campground hosts were very nice and helpful. We plan to return in late fall.

Very enjoyable time here, this is a well managed facility with great guests also! The "Regulars" here are quite social and very helpful with most anything you need. Did a little fishing and caught some nice bass, even though fishing was reported as slow! I will stay here again, hopefully have a little more time to stay and enjoy. Mike and Dennis do an awesome job of managing this place, wish all military famcamps were this well managed.

Twas a mere fluke I ended up at Lake Martinez FamCamp, but I must say this place fits the bill if you're looking for 'isolated'. I pulled in on a Sunday looking to bunk in for a few days, and stayed 2 weeks. The morning 'staff meetings' at the fire pit was a refreshing treat from so many camps where there's not a lot of socializing done. You want some downtime away from the hubbub and bustle? This is your camp. The staff (Mike and Dennis) are among the more gracious people I've known in almost 50 years of living, very open to talk about their site, the lake and what's to do around the area. They're very knowledgeable re who's who and where to go for what in the area. The [Camp Fixit Dood] (Mike) rocks, you got something needs tweaked or need to borrow a tool, he's Johnny on the spot for you. All they need is a coffee pot and I might have Wintered over there! And make it a point to drive out to the mine while you're here, the scenery is awesome!

The wife and I spent the week here and although it was in the 100's the first two days, the A/C makes the difference. Fish in the morning, veg out in the heat of the day and more fishing in the evening. The blue gill were biting and Vi landed a 4lb. catfish. No bass this time, but saw a couple 5 pounders that were caught from the shore. Even though it's isolated and doesn't have all the amenities, it's only 3 miles from Fisher's Camp where they DO have the amenities (store, bar, restaurant, fishing tackle shop). Dennis, Mike #1 & Mike#2 were the best staff you could get. Always helpful! Cabins # 9 & 10 are the size of a small apt. with patio decks facing the lake, full kitchen & dining area, bath, shower, two bedrooms and the all important, aforementioned A/C!!!!! For the price, you can't beat it ANYWHERE! Unless, someone's found another gem like this that I haven't been to yet! We plan to return in late fall after the heats off! Al & Vi Kirkpatrick

N. L. left this review using the Directory software: If you are looking for a campground with all the amenities, DON'T come here. The nearest town is Yuma and that is 35 miles from the campground. No laundry. No sewer. No wi-fi. No cable. No stores. No restaurants. However, if you want quiet and great scenery, then this is the place. At only $12 a night it is well worth the drive. They do have a shower house with a men's side and women's side. Each has one shower and two toilets. They also have a pool table and vending machines as well as free ice. The thing I love the most is NO trains and NO highways, just the sound of birds. Be sure to bring your satellite and you will be all set. Enjoy the camaraderie with the fellow campers and the beautiful scenery. Would stay again if in the area. I'm not checking Big Rig Friendly because it isn't really friendly, it's more of a challenge!

We stayed at Lake Martinez for three weeks in February '08. If you are looking for ice cream socials and shuffle board you will not find it here. If you want quiet camping and great fishing with quail and bobcats wandering through camp and coyotes singing at night then you have found the right place. Yes, it's isolated and about a 25 minute drive to the commissary/gas station/cafe/laundry at Yuma proving ground. No, that wasn't a problem for us, if it would be for you, don't camp there. Yes, some of the spaces are a little small. Some of them, read space #17 especially, are primo but you need to check with reservations to see what's available. No, there are no sewer hookups but there is a dump at Fisher's Landing about 2 miles down the road. Overall, I thought it was outstanding, the wife, not so much. We will be back next winter.

We stopped by to take a look and get updated information for the website, but didn't spend the night. Dennis, the assistant manager was very friendly and helpful. As previously mentioned, this is an older campground with smaller camp sites that are close together. There are a few larger sites for 40' RV's, and a few that are real nice, large, and private. Our impression was this is a nice recreation area, not neccessarily a destination RV Park. Most people we talked to were there for the fishing, which they say is great! They were catching bass in a short time, directly from the dock! You can rent a 10hp fishing boat for $20 a day. If you want a relaxing place to camp, fish, and explore the lake, this is the best deal in this part of the country.

Great location north of Yuma, located in a small Marina on lake Martinez --- The RV sites were developed for much older and smaller RV's -- If you have anything with slideouts you will not only fill but create an obstacle for your neighbors -- Sites are back-in and seem to be the entertainment for the day when a new arrival pulls in -- We enjoyed the area but left two days early due to the very small sites -- When we exited our fifth wheel we had to bery careful not to run into our neighbors slideout
