We are full-timers who tend to go from fam camp to fam camp. This place is pretty much out in the middle of nowhere which is fine. I think it's more geared towards active duty personnel or civilian employees. If you get a concrete spot lucky you. We were in the dirt spots. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any routine maintenance done. It's full of old satellite chords, broken wood, nails and DOG POOP! So much dog poop. It doesn't seem like anyone checks on this area to see if standards are being maintained. There was a large dog in the trailer next to us who we could hear crying alot and then they just tie it out to poop and never pick up. It seems cruel to do that to an animal. The water for the whole week came through in sputters and with dirt in it. When we went to the office to mention it they said "oh just run it it'll go away, it hasn't been used in a while at that spot". It did not go away for the whole week we were there and left silt in the bottom of our toilets. First thing we did when we left was to change the filters. There are no TV stations for over the air antenna and the Wi-Fi is minimal in those locations at best. They called us the day after we left to make sure we were gone so you know they're not checking on this famcamp regularly. If you don't absolutely have to be there stay in Barstow.

We RV full time and go from famcamp to famcamp. Most have been fantastic experiences! We called and made reservations and had a good experience with the office! Directions were superb!!! All the concrete sites were taken so we were in an area that is slightly unlevel, but with full hookups. Bathrooms are very nice and clean. A 5 minute walk and you can climb blackie hill that shows you all of the post (breathtaking). There are 3 gyms, an indoor pool, movie theater and of course PX and commissary. We also found a 5 mile paved bike trail that was a lot of fun! Only cons, definitely windy and we were surprised the site was $37 a night.

We spent a week at this campground during COVID-19. The RV Sites are brand new, we were the first ones to use it. I'm guessing they added about 75 new sites with full W/S/30 and 50 amp service. Each site had a stand up grill and new concrete picnic table. The sites were plenty big enough to handle my 41' 5th wheel. There is a separate pad to park your TV. They offer propane in the campground. There is a brand new Community Center, shower house, and laundry area but they were closed due to COVID-19. The campground is located on the same road as the Class VI, and about two miles from the 24 hour Shopette, Commissary, and PX. Wi-Fi is not very good but they are aware of the problem and working to fix it. The base is too far away from civilization for local TV. According to the MWR manager, plans are in the works to add several new MWR facilities to include zip line. The campground sits at a little higher elevation than the housing area. It's very windy in the campground, much more than housing. A word to the wise, don't plan to use your awning. In all honesty, as far as the site, one of the nicest I've ever had. The location is the problem.....it is Fort Irwin, But at $15 per night, it's a great deal.

This campground is suited for just what we used it for, waiting for housing. Electric only with unlevel sites and lots of wind, iit is bare bones. You can fill up water and dump waste fairly close and you are on post just a mile or two from everything. The post has plenty of room and with a little effort and money could develop this into a phenomenal campground to support the post but doesn't look like it will happen anytime soon. As far as visiting it is not close to anything and is about 35 miles from the interstate so unless you are reporting here for duty or visiting someone on post just stay in Barstow at the Calico Ghost Town if you are just passing thru on I-15. Just $10 a night.
