We "checked in" from the RV park instead of driving the rig to the office. I later went over to the office to sign the paperwork. That saved us a hassle in trying to turn our RV and toad. The site (46) was good (concrete pad) and shaded by trees although not all sites are the same. The trees have a lot if foliage that seem to attract a gnat looking insect that can be a nuisance but don't seem to bite. There seems to be internet at the park (RV Park Wifi) but coverage or bandwidth is sporadic. We used our Verizon and Sprint with no problems. OTA antenna didn't pick up any channels. The bathroom/laundry facility seemed new but another one is needed. Lots of helo tracffic from morning until night. There are many amenities on base with easy access to the campground but the main part of the base (commissary etc) is about 9 miles away so plan accordingly. Gas was about .35 cheaper on base. McDonalds (don't judge) was almost twice as much as other states but it is California. We went to a nice beach area in South Camp Pendleton (Del Mar Resort) but it was very expensive ($45 to rent a cabana/canopy on the beach). I understand it's a resort but enlisted personnel probably don't that kind of money.
