My impression of this place is pretty much the same as the November 2013 review by Don Geidel. This base saw its heyday during WW II and it’s been going downhill since then. In April 1971, the California Army National Guard took over. This is got to be the worst looking base I have seen and the campground isn’t much better. We were traveling between Los Angeles and Monterey and this was a convenient place to stop for one night. The only positive thing I can mention is the $10 for a full-hookup site. The ironic thing is that the campground is full – I got the last available site. But the reason for that is the homesteaders. They have pretty much taken over and I understand that there is a waiting list.
