So I'm on my way to Mich via the plains with a stopover at ColoSprgs to visit a friend... I pulls in to Turkey Creek Thursday the 21st and absent a host site I go hunting for a people. I find someone at the Ft Carson Fire Station on the other side of the stables and ask after the camping, fire fighter says "camping is down that road, pull in to any of the sites." and at some point adds "there's no charge." Free is good, I can do free... considering "primitive camping" is an understatement here, the nearest anything anywhere is a outhouse several hundred yards further down the road. No water, no electricity, no nothing. The upside it's beyond beautiful out there. On the downside according to Ft Carson Police the site is closed... proceed accordingly?

Nice clean site however it seems stupid to pay to park your RV when there are no hook ups. What are you paying for?

While in the area, we stopped by to look around. This is a VERY active recreation area, with lots of equestrian activities. During our visit, there were at least 3 large groups having parties/picnics. Lots of organized trail rides. Looks like it would be fun to take their "Steak dinner ride". But for camping, it's pretty rustic. Basically, a place to park an RV on grass next to some trees. No hookups, showers, laundry, or other facilities. Why a higher price for RV's than tents when both are primitive sites?
