Stayed at Osprey for 3 days. Figuring out where to go and what to expect, this was our first pre-retirement experience in a RV park. Although there were couple of issues we experienced that would be considered negative, the people we dealt with (MWR, camp host, other RVers/campers) were so nice, it didn’t bother us at all. They absolutely didn’t have to but they even refunded part of our stay for our inconvenience while there. We hope to return there in the future as it was our favorite place out of 4 military campgrounds/Bases we stayed at during this trip. When traveling there’s always the views but we always remember the places by the people we meet and the food we eat, good or bad.

A lot has changed at the park. rent is up to 31.00 a night. no ice, removed the coffee, computers, from the club house. cabin rent is up also but I don't know how much. the Host are not nice and the don't do much. the command (MWR) will not fix the park, no money but the rent still goes up. they say it's covit but they fix the golf park area. PAY MORE, GET A LOT LESS. Been coming here for 7 years, but will come back.

We had stayed there for the 6 months, and really enjoyed ourselves. The beach is right there and enjoyed walking it as much as possible. Unfortunately they are not able to get a grounds person so you are raking and cleaning up your site while there. When we left, we made reservations for next year, and was told that the price is increasing to $20.00 a day because they are putting in cable television. We thought that was fair and understand the increase. Yesterday I received a phone call letting me know that they are going with a seasonal rate for the winter. The months of April - October will be the $20.00 a day, but the winter rate for November - March is going up to $23.00 a day. I think that is a large increase compared to what we were paying this past year. That will come out to an extra $150.00 a month and the greatest impact will be to the retirees, who are on fixed incomes... I guess they can increase it because there is a demand for the sites and a waiting list.. Just wanted to make people aware of this before they are making their plans for the winter...

A lot differnt than Pelican Roost. Multple large military families in small trailers. Have to dodge kids on bikes using road as playgound. Reminds of civilian trailer park.all sorts of storage trailers, boats etc. stored at sites. OK for very short stay. Basically low cost base housing for families. Sidewalks in dire need of repair. Never meet camp hosts .

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Setup is a little strange as you back in over a curb and sidewalk as this used to be a mobile home park. We did enjoy the convenience of the location. Close to base facilities and saw several nature facilities we would like to visit if we come back for a longer time. Is within walking distance to beach. Very nice. Laundry very good and convenient to all sites. Would stay again. Did check out sites at Pelican Roost and not sure if we would prefer to be there as seems to be windy all the time and sites are closer together.

We stayed here one night as an overflow waiting for a site over in Pelican Roost. While we were disappointed that we would have to move, Osprey Cove was still a nice place. It is much more wooded and I am sure must be cooler in the summer. You drive through the housing area to get there. Follow the instructions and go to Pelican Roost first, as that is where you check in. The sites are back in and some of them you will jump a small curb to get into it. The cable was out on our site, but did not matter as we were only there for one night. The restrooms were very clean and the lounge was well kept. The laundry was FREE! Overall a great place to stay. The view does not compare to Pelican Roost, but I bet in the summer Osprey Cove is much cooler.

Enjoyed watching vessels go by.  Walked down to the beach every day.  Enjoyed activities like bingo at community center.  Will definitely go back.

A pretty awesome place, palm trees, old oaks, and lots of shade so you don't roast to death. Large sites affording you privacy from your fellow RV'ers. Complete hook-ups featuring water, with extra flush connection, 30/50 electric available, and nice sitting or Barbie pads. FREE washers and dryers; where do you find those available now-a-days? Clean washrooms and showers. Coffee is made for you 7 days a week @ 7:00 am in the morning at the clubhouse. Cable T.V. and computers are available in clubhouse for your use. The clubhouse also has a large screened-in porch and a couple of outdoor barbecue grills. FREE WI-FI is available for each site. The RV Park is quiet and relaxing all of the time. Minutes from the private military beach. There are many activities to do both on base and within our RV community...Golf course and a fantastic Gymnasium complex, featuring an Olympic size pool, are just minutes away on base. There are two seafood restaurants in the village of Mayport, off base, that are truly incredible. Camp hosts were outgoing and very helpful; they were diligent in keeping the clubhouse facilities clean and their clients happy.

Osprey Cove has lots of shade which is good in the hot months, but very hard to get a good satellite signal depending on your site. Need lots of trees trimmed/removed. Some of the sites are difficult to back into because of the location of trees. The camp hosts were great, always trying to come up with some activities. This is the long term campground for Mayport. It does fill up quickly and spots do not remain empty for long. The MWR manager and I had words because they told me that I had to leave a day earlier than I had planned, even though I paid for the whole month. Needless to say, I left even though she tried to mollify me and let me stay. Since I hope to stay here next winter, didn't want to burn any bridges. Sidewalks need repair as well as some of the street lights, but the base doesn't want to put any money into this park. It's behind housing, so some of the kids would walk through the park and tried to get into the club house and bathrooms. The camp hosts keep a good eye out for troublemakers.

We were disappointed to not get into Pelican Roost, though the sites are closer together the view of the river is great. We supposedly got the last site open at Osprey Cove. It's an out of the way location but quiet. Once you get used to the roads it's easy to get around the base and out to the off base commissary and nex. We're not real fond of trees so our site in the last row was a bit shady for us. It's an oddly laid out park, following the old mobile home streets and sidewalks. Your rv backs way up near the woods to access the hookups while your truck stays out by the street. The sites to the front of the park and the center have a bit more sun but are somewhat random in their layout. Plenty of space between neighbors. The FREE laundry is a plus. The machines are quite new and clean. You may have to wait as there aren't too many. The screened porch is a nice place to sit while waiting for laundry. Hosts were friendly and helpful. We woke up on Easter morning to find plastic eggs full of candy on our steps. How can you not like a place like that?? (Editors note: Ratings adjusted per reviewer.)

T.B. left this review using the Directory software: - Pelican Roost was full when I called to reserve and the staff set me up in Osprey Cove. Apparently about 18 sites in Pelican Roost have been lost due to electrical problems the host tells me so they are utilizing available sites a Osprey Cove for short timers (we were there 4 nights). Nice clean campground with the sites situated among mature shade trees. One bit of information if you come to Mayport is get a pass. The gate guard didn't mention it to us and we assumed access was as all the other places we have been where producing my retired ID card was sufficient for entry. I found out when we were returning after a shopping trip to the off base commissary with our tow car. The passes are available at a layby just inside the main gate. However, since we were after 1600 we could only get one for that day. You can get a multiple day pass during normal duty hours. Not a big deal just a little surprise inconvenience.

Site was perfect, camp hosts were very helpful with parking on our site and made sure we knew about the up coming activities. The facilities were clean and the sites are huge. WiFi worked great. Would have no problem staying there again.

First time here and I will definitely go back! Shaded lots will be a plus in summer. We were place here because Pelican was full. Host was excellent in helping get set up. One thing, all sites have 50 amp receptacles and you will need a 30 to 50 converter plug. Host let me borrow one. Make sure you go to Singletons seafood restaurant in Mayport! Incredible is all ill say! Can't wait to go back.

OUTSTANDING RV PARK!! Camp hosts take great care of this place and the guests. From parking assistance to keeping things clean and working, one of the best places we've ever stayed at. Very nicely equipped, FREE laundry room (4 washers/8 dryers) with lounge in the same building/cable tv/coffee, plenty of books/magazines - almost makes you look forward to laundry day. Maintenance crew comes by several times a week to blow leaves off your cement rv pad and trim the weeds. The only negative thing, which cannot be blamed on the park, is what the trees drop on your vehicle and RV roof. But getting some exercise while cleaning it off is another positive....

We just arrived today and after reading several of the reviews, must say we are pleasantly surprised. Woody at Pelican Roost was very friendly and helpful. Since they were full, we were given an RV spot at Osprey Cove. When we arrived, Bill, one of the camp hosts, met us at our camp site and helped us get parked. He was very friendly and helpful. Another camp host, Bob, also came over to meet us. We are parked under trees so have have just the right amount of sun and shade with a nice cool breeze blowing through the RV. The facilities - free washer/dryer's, free ice, rec room and restroom facilities are all very modern and clean. Bill came back over to invite us to a potluck on Friday evening, which we will unfortunately have to miss since we are only staying two nights. We will definitely return.

I visited while staying at Pelican Roost to check out the facilities. It seemed to be a nice park although there were some trashy looking sites. After all, this is a homesteading park. You have to stay a minimum of 30 days and can stay for 6 months. So during this time you can collect a lot of stuff and pile it under and around your RV. The negatives: No rest room facilities; the Youth Center is adjoining on one side and a very large children's playground is on the other side. One other is you have to drive through the housing area to get to the park. If I was coming to the Jax area for an extended period I would stay here. However, that probably would not happen I don't stay in one place for more than 2 weeks and I don't like parking on grass sites because you can't see the ants.

Excellent CG that is well staffed by helpful and friendly people. The utilities provided was awesome and never had a hiccup. What a wonderful view and a great feeling comes over when the naval/coast guard ships enter and exit. It was a wonderful experience that will be shared with other military RV'S as our paths cross.

J.M. left this review using the Directory software - We made reservations for three rigs. They accommodated us and assigned us sites close together. When we got there there were a lot of empty spaces on the front row. We asked and were told the computer assigns spaces and can't be changed. The check in lady told us all the front row would be filled up that night. This turned out to be untrue as there were empty spaces in the front row during our four day stay. I guess it is who you know. The campground and clubhouse is excellent. The camp host "Rocky" was the best I have seen. He was there to accommodate us in every thing we asked. He does everything with a smile. I wish he would take over the reservation desk. Nice campground.

I stayed at Osprey cove December 2010 through March 2011 in a 40’ Motorhome. This old mobile home park has been converted to long term (six month stay) RV park. It is Big rig friendly. Nice, quiet, clean, friendly, large sites, many with ample shade. The palm trees and water oaks are messy, but are native to area. There is 50 amp power, water/sewer and FREE Wi-Fi with good range. There is good over the air TV reception. Cable TV is available if you want to pay for it. For Satellite TV a remote dish is helpful at most sites. The price is $17 per night, no weekly, monthly discount. Bob & Bill (were the hosts and facilities cleaners). Nice, new, clean community center with a large TV, two computer stations & book exchange, a Bath house, free washer/driers. All cleaned at least once a day and as needed throughout as one of them are on duty 7 days a week 9AM-9PM. Keith & Bobby (were the maintenance & grounds crew). They keep the grounds and sites very clean. Some activities are starting at Osprey Cove, potluck, ice cream social, pizza night. There appears to be some homesteading, but not looking like “trailer trash”. Schawn's, pizza, some restaurants, FEDEX & UPS make deliveries to your site. You are allowed to wash your camper, although the water is hard and heavily chlorinated a filter would be advised. Close drive off base to Exchange & Commissary. On base short drive to NFCU, Post Office, propane, golf course, bowling, beach, convenience store, and much more. It is nice to hear the ocean at night and the occasional ships horn. I had a good time and hope to enjoy this park again. The wives of all the above mentioned men really help out and all were friendly. Thanks!
