Due to a hard right turn onto Kennedy Blvd., I suggest using the alternate route. ---- ALTERNATE ROUTE: Follow US 1 South until the intersection where you have to either turn right to continue on US 1 South (Roosevelt) or turn left on A1A South. Turn left on A1A S and go to the first traffic light and turn right on Flagler Ave. Go about 1.25 miles on Flagler and at the first traffic light, turn right on Kennedy. Stay on Kennedy and it will end at the Sigsbee Gate. Once past the gate, go another 0.4 miles to Sigsbee Rd. and turn right onto Sigsbee. Follow Sigsbee approx 0. 5 miles and turn left to campground office. ---- NORMAL ROUTE: Follow US 1 South where US 1 joins Roosevelt Blvd. Turn right onto Roosevelt Blvd. Travel approx 1.2 miles to Kennedy Blvd. (just past the Ibis Bay Resort). Turn right onto Kennedy Blvd. And go through base gate. Follow Kennedy approx 0.4 miles to Sigsbee Rd. and turn right onto Sigsbee. Follow Sigsbee approx 0. 5 miles and turn left to campground office.

We stayed on the Dredger Key RV park. Overall a great RV place with decently large spaces. We spent 2 weeks here and it was great. There is free wi-fi but it keeps choppy. The laundry rooms are coin-only, the coin change machine was empty the entire time we were there. Some idiot was putting food in the bathroom trash cans, so some random animal was pulling over and making a mess. Some random tips: If you want to do the Duval Crawl, go to the Navy Lodging on Trumbo Point (looks like standard military lodging/prison with "Fly Navy" on it). Request a room at the Truman Annex then walk from there to Duval St. The Truman Annex is 24/7 and it has the 24/7 mini-shoppette on it. If you want to grill out, a cover is required by the rules and the wind. Do a party boat sea fishing tour. Everyone caught some fish. The crew will fillet the fish for you and recommend a place to get them cooked.

Had a nice stay here on the waterfront (Sunset View Park). A few tidbits: Staff and hosts were friendly and helpful. Restroom / shower (N end) needed more custodial and maintenance attention. It's unsecure and non campers use it as well. Tiki bar next to the base marina doesn't take cash. The base marina rents boats, but your boating safety credential must be in their database, so call ahead for details. Parked at Trumbo Point lot (outside the security gate) then walked into town. Displayed campground tag on dashboard. Higgs Beach is nice with FREE parking / restrooms / food. Straw Hat Beach at the Truman Annex is nice, but didn't see any amenities. Recommend a visit to the Marina at the Boca Chica part of the base. There were plenty of spaces here at this time. A note about insurance for travel trailers / pop ups. Have proof that your rig is covered. Many insurance companies extend coverage to towed equipment while it is attached to the tow ball (or accidentally breaks away). Once you park it in between two $100,000+ Class As and drive away, it has to be covered.

Sigsbee - RV5 - Great location, no disputing that. One-third the cost of local RV resorts, if you can find a spot. Packed in like sardines which is fine, if you're coming to Key West, you're not coming for the RV resort. Camp hosts are friendly and accommodating during business hours; not available after hours to police the park. Only issue we had was active duty partying after quiet hours (0130) and that was only one time. NEX/Commissary/ITT/little gym/sports fields right across the street. MAKE SURE TO FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS ON THIS SITE IF YOU'RE TOWING LONG. Alvin in the front office was AWESOME. Love those sunsets and ocean breezes. Overall, good experience.

I was not aware of the name change from Sigsby/Trumbo Point RV Park to NASKW, neither was the camp host or people in the office. Have been going there regularly since 2015, this was the first time I have stayed in the boondock area on Trumbo Point. They reduced the number of spaces this season, not allowing use of sites near the Coast Guard Base. Some said this was due to interdiction operations the USCG has ongoing to and from Fort Jefferson. Needless to say it was busy there 24/7. The mini mart at Trumbo has basic food and beverages. On Sigsby Island, where the main RV Park and Marina are located, there is a commissary, exchange, gas station (diesel too), and 2 large coin laundry facilities. A water/dump site is also located in the middle of the park. At Trumbo, about 12 sites have water only, no power or sewer. However, there is a water/dump station and a small laundry room. Staying at Trumbo is a great way to test your solar/wind/and generator equipment. TV and satellite reception were very good. Lots of RV'ers using Starlink.

This was our first time in Key West FL since we live in CA. (It's a long way to go for an East Coast Ocean view campsite.) We can't say enough good things about the NASKW RV Campground; (Sigsbee RV Park). The Camp Host (Mark) was so helpful and spent the extra time and effort to ensure our Campsite and accommodations were perfect. Since we arrived late due to traffic, Mark was very accommodating and quickly met us at the RV parking area and escorted us to our site. He helped with parking, and gave us very thorough explanation of the facilities etc. since this was our first time in the area. The Staff was very helpful on check-in the next morning and clarified many logistic issues that apparently were incorrect given in the reviews etc. Yes you do have to fill out lots of paperwork etc but that's a normal procedure for most Military installations. I would like to clarify the reservation system; 1. If you book via the https://hmsnvreservations.dodlodging.net website, You receive the site that you booked on those dates! We did a 5 month booking in advance since we were traveling 40 days on the road and had to lock in dates for our route. 2. Many reviews (older now) stated that when you first arrive you might be placed in a holding area for up to a few days before you can get into your site. NOT true. This might have been an issue prior to the reservation system but no longer. 3. This was one of the main reasons why I only booked for a few days. We are in a 2019 Newmar RV which is basically controlled by electronics/Solar etc and I did not want to run a diesel generator all day to keep the wife and 2 small dogs cool in AUG. 4. Booking with the reservation system is the only way to secure you have a full hookup site on the dates you have selected. 5. If you don't use the reservation system then it will be a random event if you can get a site during off and on season. The Amenities/Facilities are fantastic for the price you pay! For what we paid during the week would have cost us one night in the Keys at many of the local RV resorts. Granted you must be a Military affiliate to be able to stay at this location but our service is being rewarded for the 20+ years we spent in the Military. As some reviews stated best to go to the Base family Ticket office right next door to purchase discount tickets for various activities in Key West. Some Favorite attractions were the THE KEY WEST BUTTERFLY & NATURE CONSERVATORY and Key West Shipwreck Treasure Museum. Additional information: https://www.navymwrkeywest.com. Very nice place. Close to everything. Staff very helpful and friendly. No complaints there at all. Note: If you need an Epass or ID better stop at Boca Chica Base before going to the campSite. Bought several tickets for places in Key West at a very good discount. Personnel at Boca Chica base very friendly and courteous and fast. The Epass is good for all military facilities in the Key West area, excellent !!!!!!!! Recommend you contact the campsite before arrival and state your ID situation and guests, they will advise of you are OK or need to stop at the base. I was not aware of this and had to take the guest to Boca Chica for the ID but it was very smooth, had known we would had stopped there first. I did not had any dogs with me but saw several ones around, I recommend you call ahead and educate with their rules. Do recommend it !!!!!!!!!!! Thanks

I have stayed here many times in the past and never had a problem with the rotation or fact that its rarely full in summer. However, now they want everyone to make reservations online through DOD Lodging which is a nightmare IF you can get someone on the line. Trying to make a reservation 6 months in advance is a very frustrating task. They have stopped the mandatory rotation, and everyone has a different story about why or what is happening there. On my last stay the laundry room and restrooms were dirty and over half the machines were out of order. I spent my time in there picking up trash only because I did not want the kids or dogs going through it.

We arrived late afternoon , we were helped to our spot and told to check in the next morning . After breakfast we went to check in we were told after a long process of papers and more papers that our dogs were not allowed. We have two very friendly and well behaved Akitas. We travel with them all over the US and never had a problem. We were told we had to leave which was crazy because our reservation stated that we had two dogs and no further questions were ask. The most dangerous and aggressive dog the Chihuahua was not on the list. After a long back and forth we were allowed to stay till the next day. I did not realize the military would not let their military dogs onto the base. They are on the list. Someone really needs to get a clue. A dog is not dangerous. The owner is. Well behaved and cared for dogs are not a problem no matter what breed. Our dogs were attacked twice by small dogs without any kind of provocation on their part. This is not the military way. Shame on the base commander.

This was our first visit to Key West and with the simply crazy prices out in town for RV sites, any military campground in Key West is an outstanding deal. After staying in a dry camp, ocean view lot for a week we were able to move into a full hook up site. While it was the 2nd row from the front, it didn't bother us at all with still great views during the days and of course sitting at the waters edge in our chairs with drinks to watch the sunset was just spectacular! Campground hosts were friendly and helpful, the office staff (Alvin & Dean) were great to work with. Many places to eat close to the RV park and of course many different tours are available downtown. The only negative is the base does not check ID cards at the Sigsbee gate when you first enter. From time to time there is a security vehicle parked there, but that is rare. With military housing, a school and a gas station available, I would think security should at least check everyone who drives onto the base. Security does drive through the RV park and on base, but it seems anyone can just drive on the base, buy cheaper gas when it is available or take a walk along "our" beach. We will be back for sure next year and hope to stay at least 2 months.

Feb 2022 - Sigsbee has been a favorite place for us for many years but this year we are to a point where we are probably not going to return any more. The incompetency of the office staff and the Gestapo attitude of many but not all of the camp hosts is at an all time high. As things are currently being run I really do not recommend this location to any one any more and it breaks my heart to say this because we really have loved the place and the people that we have met here. Unless the commander and the MWR director are able to drain the swamp in the camp grounds office and get the place running like an MWR facility should run, many many folks we know will not return. I would bet you that none of the people in the office even know what MWR stands for and I find that very sad. There are so many examples of why I am saying this that I don't want to use up that much space and time but I assure all of you that I am not some disgruntled ticked offed camper with a chip on my shoulder. I do feel however that there used to be a time when the camp hosts used to welcome guests and not spend their day looking for issues to harass the campers about. They are so petty about some of the things they jump on people about it is just ridiculous. I believe that the numbers of campers in the camp ground bears out what I am saying also, because I have never seen so few people in the camp grounds this time of the year ever. February is normally one of the busiest months down here and this year they have never been full even though the office will tell you otherwise. I have counted the empty sites almost on a daily basis and the dry camp has had at least 25 to 45 empty sites since January and this is very unusual. I really hope that the powers to be wake up and see that the office managers at Sigsbee are not doing what they were hired to do and get this place straightened out before it is ruined. People like myself that really love coming to this place will only tolerate so much incompetence and dishonesty before they give up on Sigsbee and find other places to go. I hope and pray that MWR at Sigsbee finds a way to return to caring for it's retirees and vets and active duty as they should because they deserve it.

Important update for those with reservations (or plans) to Dry Camp at NASKW Campgrounds (Sigsbee and Trumbo Point), Key West FL, this winter (Oct 2021 - Apr 2022). Due to the significant uptick in Covid19 cases in Florida, management has reduced the availability of dry camping spaces for this winter season dramatically (only 25% of dry camping sites will be available for use). This necessitated cancelling a number of existing dry camping reservations that had already been made over the last few months. It's my understanding this reduction in dry camping availability was necessary to meet the social distancing requirements for the communal bath houses. It's also my understanding that Full Hook-Up (FHU) sites will not be affected and should have 100% availability. If you made reservations to dry camp at Sigsbee or Trumbo Point during the last few months you may want to call the NASKW campground office at (305) 293-4432/3 to reconfirm your reservation.

We absolutely loved our stay at Sigsbee! We've been anxiously awaiting the reopening post-pandemic and are so excited to hear they are taking reservations again 6/1/2021. We'll be on the line making our winter reservations! Retirees can reserve sites up to 6 months in advance. Please note there have been some major changes posted from the command this week. Maximum stay is now 3 months and there is so more "shuffle." Instead you make reservations for FHU or dry camping. We hope to get FHU, but we loved our stay there so much, we're willing to dry camp for 3 months as well. The great thing is they have a nice large dump station with two lanes and plenty of potable water stations. Sigsbee is basically a housing annex and it has a small exchange and commissary that we found to be adequate for our needs. If you want to receive mail you have to pay for a mailbox at the exchange. It was a reasonable fee though. Most importantly, bring your bikes! We rode our bikes all over Key West. We have a fifth wheel and dually pick up. It was so nice to leave the truck on base and ride the bikes everywhere.

We camped here in our tent for a week. It was the end of May so it was hot. I commend staff, security, exchange, etc. personnel for their hospitality and professionalism. This made us feel welcomed during our stay. We stayed in spot T6 which was level and on the waterfront. I probably shouldn't complain but a larger, grassy spot for tenters would be appreciated.

Effect February 1, 2020 this was a major change in the way the campground operates. In the future you will NOT be rotating to full hooks from dry camping; you will be in one or the other--only! Secondly, after this season you will only be allowed to stay in this campground for 90 days and then you have to leave for at least 60 days. Just make sure you understand the new rules that just went into affect.

RVers are still coming to this campground NOT KNOWING that they will be in dry camping at the beginning of their stay. Depending on the time of year it could be several weeks or longer before you get a full hook up!!!!!!! CAMPERS NEED TO HAVE A GENERATOR/SOLAR TO OPERATE THEIR SYSTEMS at the start of their stay. YOU ROTATE OUT OF FULL HOOK UPS AFTER 14 DAYS, regardless of who you are!

The campground at Sigsbee has so much potential...but it fails on a few levels. First the date I entered is an old date I am actually writing this in 2019 because I had to put in a date. I cannot stay at the campground although I would love to, because I don’t own an RV...the campground is very much an RV preference Campground. Those of us who cannot afford an RV or cannot have one for other reasons are relegated to tent camping...but the Sigbee campground limits the spaces for tents to just a few spaces, on a rocky, grassless, dirt edge right on a roadway ....why can’t a grassy section of the actual campground be set aside for tent campers?? Why must we be treated like second class citizens because we can’t afford an RV??? The Navy is all about equality And fairness...but this is not equality or fairness...I will be contacting the Commanding officer of the base...

Been camping at the NASKW (Sigsbee) RV Campgrounds for a number of years. We typically stay 2-4 weeks. Our latest stay was in Oct 2019. A few updates. There were a bit more full hook-ups available this year vs. the last two years. Still a number of homesteaders. One welcome change: they've hired contractors to cut the grass. Years past, each camper was responsible for cutting the grass at their respective RV site. Another change, no more FHU to FHU site moves/changes allowed. Only dry camping to FHU or vice versa. Choose carefully when you arrive. They've reduced the number of dry camping sites at Trumbo Point (only open during the Oct-Apr high-season). I'd guess-estimate a 30% reduction. A number of sites adjacent to the Coast Guard station were turned into vehicle/RV/boat storage. Also, several rows of sites next to the helicopter pad were taken out of service due to RV's being damaged by helicopter rotor wash. Even before this site reduction, Trumbo Point was typically at capacity from Dec-Feb. This site reduction is going to make availability even more difficult going forward. If you have plans to spend the winter at NASKW, I'd suggest making reservations at navygetaway.com or calling ahead to check on availability before heading down the Keys. Dry camping and FHU rates (for Active Duty/Retired) remain the same as last year at $17 and $27, respectively. On another topic, a previous reviewer was very critical of the NASKW campgrounds (no beaches and limited space). I believe they would have been disappointed staying anywhere in the Florida Keys. First, there are no real "beaches" in the Florida Keys (only small, man-made snip-its of non-indigenous sand). Secondly, EVERYTHING in the Florida Keys (especially the lower Keys) is "crunched" together--lol (land is scarce and very expensive)! IMO, The NASKW RV Campgrounds continue to offer significant value and convenience. Public RV campgrounds in the Florida Keys can easily run more than a $100 a night. The Florida State Park RV campgrounds in the Florida Keys do offer substantial value and ambiance at $30-$40 a night; unfortunately, they're typically booked up to a year (or more) in advance. Safe travels! Be safe!

This review was left by T.M. using the Directory software: This campground looks like a crap hole. RVs crunched together and some look disabled and show signs of having been parked for a long time. Beach is not a beach, no sand and large rocks that were put there to keep the shore from washing away. They call it a beach because they put 3 picnic tables at the rock’s edge. We had reservation for 5 nights but we were so disappointed that we only stated one night. View of the gulf is amazing but you can get that at a state park. This stop had so much potential and needless to say we traveled many miles only to be extremely disappointed. On the flip side, the park lady on duty was very friendly and accommodating.

We have been coming here for many years now to escape the winters at home. We really love being here, and have made life long new friends in the process. There is no other camp ground we have ever been to that almost everyone is like family. Sadly though, since Irma last year, and MWR initiating the reservation system, things are rapidly changing. The Gateway reservation system has been a real mess, and many people that tried to get reservations this year were told that nothing was available and the camp was full. Well that was never true because the camp never totally filled, and though it came close in February for only a couple of weeks, they had spaces available all winter, yet many were turned away because Gateway reported the camp being full. Also we had many new 1st time NASKW campers here that were told by Gateway they would be able to go right into hook up sites when they arrived. This was another not true story. They were shocked when they arrived and had to spend three weeks or longer in dry camp working their way up the rotation list to be able to get their 14 day limit on full hook up sites. Those of us who come every year understand the rotation policy, but the new folks in most cases did not come prepared to be able to make it for weeks in dry camp. Many had no generators or the type of items that make living in a dry camp possible. The rumors are running rampant about the future of this camp. We are now hearing that for the next winter season the rates are going to take a huge jump, and that rotations are not going to happen any more. This may sound good to some, but if you think about it, and someone arrives in December and gets a site with no rotations, he will have it all season. With the limited number of full hook up sites it will keep hundreds of others out of luck. I don't pretend to have all the answers, but I just want folks that are considering Sigsbee for the winter of 2019 season to check things out before you come down. There is a very good chance that it will not be as it has been in the past. The past increases have been small at a dollar or two a day more than previous years. Now the powers to be are talking about huge increases of possibly double what the current rates are per day. And if the rumor is true about the rotations being ended, that will mean that the normal 200 plus rigs they have in dry camp working their way up the rotation list will have to stay in dry camp all winter, and believe me that can get pretty uncomfortable for sleeping at night. This is just a wake up call for everyone to watch for, as I said at the start, we do love it here. It is just that when you know you will get 2 weeks of hook ups every few weeks or so it makes it easier to take. Four or five months of dry camp is a totally different story. Anyway be sure to check things out thouroughly before coming down thinking things are as usual.
