We've stayed at Manatee Cove several times. The last time in 2011. Before the remodel/additions and before reservations could be made. Of course the prices have gone up since our last visit. That's to be expected. Can't think of anything that hasn't increased in price. Still it's way, way cheaper than commercial campgrounds in the area. With the added benefit of quieter at night, no loud parties, and can't beat the security of a .mil campground. The ladies in the office were A#1 Super Nice, friendly and helpful. We needed to stay a couple of extra days past our reserved check out date. Not a problem. They were great accommodating us. Initially our reservations were for 10 days. We left and went to the other side of the state for about 2 weeks. We then decided to return. Their response "Sure, come on in. We'll find a spot for you. How long do you want to stay?" Spent another 2 weeks. We found the campground and facilities extremely clean and well maintained. Hook ups were well designed and placed. I would comment that all the sites are flat and level but it's the FL coast, everything is flat and level. Some sites were all concrete pads, some rock. The campground was never full the entire time we were there. The office said they've been about 80% all winter. The sunset view is wonderful from the campground. Drive out the main gate across A1A to the public parking on the Atlantic beach and the sunrises are great. Also a great location to watch rockets launch at the Cape. We can't think of a change we would want to see made here. We'll be back. On the P.S. side - Manatee Cove unrelated. While at Manatee Cove take a drive and walk thru the Ritch Grissom Memorial Wetlands west of Patrick. About a 20 minute drive in FL traffic. Easy walking trails thru out the wetlands. Actually the trail are roads that go around the wetlands, now closed to vehicular traffic. We went several times and always saw alligators, turtles, and all kinds of birds. Some really close. Take binoculars to get view some that are timid and farther out.
