James E. Johnson Memorial RV Park ( Camp Blanding) was created by ErnieT
Just stayed at Camp Blanding this weekend. Only 1/4 full. Drove to new RV section. They have added 3 new board walks to the water with a fishing dock at each one. A lot of work was done there this winter. Did not make it to the tent area.

Sounds like a nice place. The CG on that round lake in the middle? It didn't show on the map. Looks like its convenient to Orlando and a few other places too. Wish they had a longer stay limit though. 21 days isn't enough to show my Ukrainian hottie all there is to see there. I suppose we could dry camp off base (We can simulate WalMartians for a night ) then come back the next day though. That just might end up being our first stop on our Winter cruise next year though.

Blanding is a nice place to hang out and re-group - not much around it, except Gainesville college town an hour away. Lots there w/UF ...
Pond, boats, gym, no commissary, not fuel, nothing much at the base but a relaxing time. We've been a few times - and will stop anytime we're in the area.

Thanks Monkey.
I was thinkin Orlando isn't too fer off and would make for a couple fun day trips. My lady hasn't ever been to Disney, etc. Maybe shoot over to Daytona for a day or two on the beach (just to say we dun it and hey, she still looks amazing in her bikini) and then kick back and chill the rest of the time. We do "chill" real good here.

Based on Traffic, Orlando is probably two hours, maybe less.
ONE THING, when you come down Rte301, LOTS of heavy duty traffic stops with Sheriff, if you see 40 mph, do it, if it says 55 mph do it, they have heavy speed enforcement all along that highway and in the small towns, especially Waldo - believe it !!!
BTW: Blanding for shopping has a Walmart for groceries and fuel ... it's right on Rte-301...
You'll like that MCG tho, it's kinda out of the way jewel ...
