Mac Dill Annex campground was created by Vacation Bound
We are currently at MacDill in the campground near the marina. We are thinking about coming back again and staying longer. We rode our bikes over to the annex campground. The sites are larger there and they also had hookups. Has anyone stayed in the annex CG, what are the pros & cons of the annex CG compared to the Marina side?
Thanks for any information.

The annex is same MCG, just different location - it's over by the golf course. You sign in at the main CG no matter which one you stay.
I've stayed at both, and would choose the annex over the main CG ... nice sites, and larger, a little more private.
Primary difference is rest rooms/ showers / game room / WIFI / Laundry etc is only at the main CG. But I just walk across the street to the golf rooms and shower there, or just use my RV ... And the two CGs are not far apart anyway - two, three minutes driving.

Thanks for the info. Going to my niece's retirement in a month and would rather use this annex. Still can't get reservations until two weeks prior.

One thing about MacDill, the office staff will tell you they are full, and can take no reservations ... but I've heard that statement plenty of times, and then just arrived and spots are available.
Don't know why that happens ... But do know that in the past some of the Annex sites have no sewer (it's there, just not working on some sites) so they don't log those into the reservations system, so it appears full, but lots of sites are partial-HU - no sewer.
Only time I've ever seen MacDill completely full is Jan/Feb/Mar when it is packed and overflow is also full ...
AND: Why won't they let you make a reservation if you're right there? MacDill takes reservations a year in advance, unless that's changed - but most of the time same group sign up for the winter season way ahead of time ... HMMMMMM ...

We have stayed at the MacDill Annex campground several times. We actually prefer it over the main campground because of the room between sites and the general open feeling. The sites are all full hook-up and they fixed the broken sewer ones so they all work now.
The only thing missing is there is no WiFi at the annex. You must ride, walk, or bike to the marina to get online. You might occasionally find a neighbor who has access and will let you share his connection though.
The pictures that I have submitted to this site of our rig are mostly of the annex except for one which is of the main campground. The road pictures are also of the main campground. Here is a link to them.
