Admiral Baker in San Diego recently raised their rates for retirees to $35.00 per night. Active duty rate is now $30.00 per night.

The rate went up $9 dollars per night, $26 to the current $35. This is after a $4.00 dollar per night increase last year.

Have a great week.

While not confirmed, I heard that the Navy is standardizing rates at all of their campgrounds. $35 for all except active duty, which is $30. Pretty steep!

Makes ya wonder -- there was a time when camping was for recreation and moral ...

Did it suddenly become a money-maker, and just as suddenly did some one figure out it could be a money-maker instead of recreation and moral??

If it goes to $35, that almost double from just a few years ago on most bases ...

We should all put in a vote, double the CG fee AND double our retirement, and I'd be more than happy to pay it !!! Seems odd to me that COLA remains a big fat "0" this year, but prices still rise ...

wow
we were hit with cg sticker shock at redstone arsenal a few years ago
they built a new site and prices doubled.

i am not cheap by nature
but 30-35 per night is ludicrous.

but then again if they have good wifi and clean laundry and concrete pads, maybe not

i ramp out our trips and if a base is along the route we stop
if not its a tt park or rpi or a coe park.

I'll check NAS Fallon NV in a few days, if it's $35 a night, the other RV parks and the fairgrounds are a better value.

I think they are really hurting themselves by raising the rates. I am at Seabreeze RV Park located on Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach in CA. They raised their rates to $27 per night last year. The park usage has had a significant drop in campers. I have been here over a month and other than the Memorial day weekend the park has remained at one-third of the 85 sites filled at any one time. They cannot be making money at that rate. I was here in previous years when the rate was $23 per night and it was always full. Had to get on a waiting list in 2008 to get a site.

I have talked to management here and they are fighting the new increase because this faciility does not have the same amenities that other military facilities have i.e.commisary, exchange, bowling alley, pool or dining facilities.

Happy travels.
