We are going to get off our butts and go up into the mountains next month. Going to spend a few weeks roaming around in The Great Smoky Mountains. Found a nice pace to park the “E” (
www.happyholidaycherokee.com/
) and have already made the reservations. Just a tad under $40.00 a night for a FHU, 50 amps with CATV on a level slab. Of course that includes taxes and a 10% Good Sam discount.
We will take at least one train ride ( www.gsmr.com/ ) - upgraded to the club car.
Going to spend at least one night bar hopping in Gattlinburg, TN and may spend the night there so we won't have to travel those winding roads at night. Depends on what we can find.
We have free shuttle service from our RV Park to Harrah's Cherokee Casino ( www.harrahscherokee.com/casinos/harrahs-...7wJW3X8meoRfkAN9dn3u ) so we might just as well go and take a look see, say yes, twist my arm. OK, at least one stop. No booze there. It's banned by the Cherokee Indian Reservation Board. Free coffee, water and soda drinks.
The Harley's will be there during our stay so that ought to be interesting with all sorts of sights to ogle over.

We stayed at this campground about 8 years ago and loved it. The streams that run through the campground were stocked about 3 times a week and they really were pulling whoppers out of the streams. Also took the train ride from Bryson City around the gorge and over Lake Fontana and it was worth it. Beautiful waterfalls close by and great scenic rides no matter what direction you go. If you go to Waynesville check out the Creekwood Farm RV Park (staying there late Oct. before going to the Tiffin Rally in Sevierville, Tn.). If you are a Legion member go to the Legion in Waynesville too, really nice people and they gave us a license plate to take back to our Legion in Fl. to mount on the wall.

Looks like a great place! Thanks for the posting. The wife and I are always looking for places to go other than the beach. We've never been to the mountains and this looks like the perfect place to go. You say all sites are FHU, but the web site makes no mention of that, only the amperage and cable/non-cable services provided. Is this only because the amps and cable are the only variable to chose from and the sewer/water is standard?
Great post, thanks.

we have stayed at this campground several times. never saw any sites with slabs. not all sites had cable and had a hard time getting a level. of course you have the casino on this side of the smokies and its fun to play the slots there. However, for the money I'd recommend staying on the other side of the mountains at River Plantation RV Park. Its located between Sevierville and Pigeon Forge. Lot nicer campground and there is a lot more to do on that side of the Smokies in my opinion. If you take the Great Smokie railroad ride to the gorge I'd recommend you use the open air cars, you can see more. and heading out of Bryson City to the gorge, ride on the left side, you can see more. On the right the most you see is kudzu and rock. We took the trip in the club car and were disipointed. walked back to the open air car and enjoyed the ride a lot more.
