Howdy. I have a question about RV Insurance. There are so many forums around on the RV websites & they're usually very good. I think if I ask here on the USMil website, if I will get a more specific answer to my questions. Ther's just something about asking fellow US Mil retirees... First- I have a 25' Nash TT towed by a Chevy Duramax p/u. How many of you have the RV insurance that Good Sam & others RV specific companies offer ? How many have the USAA add-on insurance that goes with your vehicle policy (I have this kind of RV insurance right now) ? I've asked several other USAA members and they say they've never had a claim problem and it's a WONDERFUL bargain. But it's not "RV specific". Add to my wonders, the virtues of Good Sam's CSP (RV component warranty insurance). Would that be better for me than a specific RV insurance policy ? The USAA premium for my TT is almost a gift it's so cheap, but they swear upon vigorous questioning, that it covers me very well. If I can add 1 more thing pls- I also have Armed Forces Insurance (AFI) on my home, household & toys, and it covers my TT when it's not being towed. Anyone out there in a similar situation ? Help & THnx.

I have had all three of my fifth wheels insured by USAA and have had 3 claims over the last 10 years.
First claim was when the 1st rig was new and I cut a corner too close and scraped the roadside all along a trailer next to mine at the storage facility. Repairs were $2800 and handled with no problem.
Second was for hail damage from a storm and since the RV was a few years old by then we took the settlement ($3000+) and banked it for when we bought new. Interestingly, the hail damage became less apparent over time and was barely noticeable by the time we sold it.
Third was last fall when the water heater ignited and caused a fire under the cabinet. Luckily we returned to the rig and caught it before it started the cabinet on fire. Still, replacing the water heater, replacing some of the flooring, and redoing the tank sensor system which melted came to about $2,000.
All of these were given to a local adjuster who pretty much goes along with the estimate of the RV dealership, since they are not experts on RVs. All were handled quickly, courteously, and to my satisfaction.
We have almost everything insured with USAA (home, cars, RV, life, etc.) and are very pleased with the prices and the service. The only thing we don't insure with USAA in an ATV and a motor scooter - they aren't set up for those and the rates were based on the smallest car - still too high!

A Q? IS this USAA insurance specifically for military, or is this for everyone? Just wondering ...

I have allstate rv. I have always had allstate insurance and they have been fair and good to me. I have checked out all the other insurance companies including progressive who told me they could not begin to touch the price I have from allstate. And only one other company came close and actually they were less than allstate by a few dollars and offered a few more bells and whistles but decided to stay with allstate after all these years. The other company was this company

the list of companies that handle this insurance is listed on this page as well.
I have full coverage with the max one can get covered for plus an additional 20,000 on personal property. I am insuring an 05 Holiday Rambler MH, and a 06 Saturn Vue, plus my tow dolly for 1000 a year. With a 100 dollar deductible.
