On the rv and the new towed vehicle both are sirius capable, but who would want to pay for 2 hookups. Question is on the add on unit with the mag mount antenna. Does anyone know if it has to be out side or can it lay on the dash and still receive? Really dont want to buy multiple antennas if not needed.

We have had Sirius since 2006 and have a "lifetime" membership (no longer available). The portable units are getting better and better. If you want simplicity and lowest cost, get a portable unit and 12 volt power plug. We use the marine antennae laid on the dash of the RV and the (Sirius ready) 2012 Liberty. Not perfect but good 95% of the time.

kokomo thank you, that is what I was wondering, The portable unit in a mount that is required and the antenna on the dash. My son has same system but the mag mount is used and he ran the wire to hide it. Have a couple of vehicles that could use the system in as the towd veh is not a daily driver and the rv will sit more than anything.

Thanks again.

We had a portable dash unit in one of our cars and compared to factory installed it just did not compare and we always had to fiddle with it and find a station that was not being used to bring in Sirius. After about a year of subscribing we gave it up and decided to just use the radio or play CD's or tapes. For all of you out there who have an in-motion satellite system on your motorhome and subscribe to DISH just turn on your inverter and look at the guide in your music channels and you will find many choices of Sirius radio.

I should add that using Sirius on a vacant FM frequency NEVER worked well. We tap into the output jack of the portable receiver and run a line to the AUX input of the radio, RV and 2012 Liberty. Good clean reception.

Last add... The magnetic antennae was crap and the wire corroded in a short time. We bought a marine antennae from West Marine that has lasted for years.
