IMPORTANT UPDATE was created by larryf
Due to various anti-virus programs incorrectly blocking version 4.04 of the Directory software with a "false positive", an updated version of the Directory software is now available. This new version 4.0.5 seems to be fine with the anti-virus programs.
If you're encountering errors accessing the Directory software, or are getting messages from your anti-virus, download and install the latest version. This will resolve the problems.
For the shareware version: Download and install the latest version from here . Although you shouldn't need to, you "may" need to re-enter your current registration information to remove the trial limitation.
For the CD-ROM version: If you can't access your Directory software because the anti-virus issue, email me ([email protected]) for instructions to update your Directory software. A current subscription is required to obtain updates.
I apologize for this inconvenience, but I have no control over the anti-virus companies. Norton and McAfee have responded to me that this is a true "false positive" detection and there is no virus in the Directory software. However, the damage (blocked file) has already been done.
Thank you for your understanding and support.

I am currently using PCMatic SuperShield for virus protection. It was not letting me open your Directory unless I paused/disabled the protection. I upgraded my Directory to the new .5 version and I still have the same blocking. If SuperShield is active I get this message on my desktop and the Directory will not open.
If I pause/disable SuperShield, I can then open the Directory. Your fix did not make the Directory compatible with PCMatic's SuperShield. But pausing SuperShield to open the Directory is a simple procedure that I can live with. I just thought you should know and possibly alert others to this situation.

Thanks for the reply. The problem is with the anti-virus definitions, which should be corrected by the various anti-virus programs soon.
They are falsely identifying a "Trojan" in the Directory software. Norton and McAfee have both admitted this is a "false positive" detection and will correct this in their next virus definition file update.

PCMatic gave me a solution that works. I posted it as a separate thread with an appropriate title so other folks can find it easier. My Directory opens just fine now.

I had a similar problem, but it was not the anti virus. I suspect it was a corrupted database, because I could not uninstall the old program from my computer. I did multiple registry searches on the term "milcamp" and deleted all references manually from my registry. This allowed me to install the program. I now just need updated registration info. I sent a paypal payment to extend my subscription.
