Fort Lewis or McChord Fam Camp? was created by DaveG
We will be in the Tacoma area for a couple weeks this summer and would like recommendations as to which famcamp is better for my 36 ft class A with three slides. The difference in price between parks is not an issue.

Can't help much, because I've never stayed at Fort Lewis, although I have heard good things about it. You will find plenty of room at McChord. We visited there last with our 37' Diesel and had plenty of room for slide at all. John M

Fort Lewis is one of the best campgrounds that the army has in the northwest. In fact I think this camp ground is much better than all the rest of them in that state.
Cable TV, Wi-Fi, 20,30,50 amp they got it all.
If your TV does not have Digital you can go to the office and they will give you a converter for the cable company that allows you to pick up all the channels they have to offer. Some great camp ground hosts there and just one friendly campground.
I recommend this for anyone traveling through or staying there for a month or so.
There is a camp ground at Camp Murry, but the camp ground host there is strange. He rubs most people the wrong way and it's only got 30 amp and no cable. Not worth the money even at 14.00 a day.

The phone # listed on this site does not work. The correct phone # is 253-967-7744 or 8282. I just talked with them this morning. We are on our way there right now. Going to leave the RV there while we go on a Ak. cruise next month.
Larry, I also sent you a change for the web site.
