This is a difficult one to rate for a couple of reasons. The price is high for a military campground for what is there now. However, they are off to a great start. While there are no amenities to speak of, the sites are laid out in an interesting fashion and are just inside the Rio Road gate. Within 1/4 mile shopping and eating establishments abound. I was told that the management is working on getting wifi and cable in the park. The big selling point for this campground is that it sits 7 miles from downtown historic Savannah and the road system makes it a short and easy trip to everything that this fine city has to offer. A public library sits right off base (can be seen from our motor home) and it has wifi but it is just out of range for a connection in the park. The park is very secure because it sits right beside a guarded gate onto Hunter Army Air Field. I could easily have given this campground all 5s if wifi and cable were already in place. The campground is located in a grove of oak trees covered by Spanish moss. Each site has a concrete patio, fire ring and grill and the sites are spread out. It has the utility pedestals perfectly placed and every thing is literal on the pedestal. There is no bathhouse or laundry or on site management but it has so many other things going for it. Satellite TV is a real possibility if you have a portable dish and the patience to find an opening in the trees.
