First of all let us say that Pelican Roost RV Park is one of the best military RV parks that we have found in our nine (9) years of 'full-timing', with 4/26/07 being our third visit. We would like to add just a few points to the already great reviews that have been posted. We are sorry that there are any negative comments. That does happen, even at a great place like Pelican Roost. Don't forget, everyone can have a bad day once in a while. Be sure and make reservations if at all possible to avoid the possibility of any check-in problems and be sure to arrange your arrival time at, or after 14:00. We found that it depends on who is working the desk as far as the flexibility in the computer availability program. For some of your camping and sporting needs there is the "Outdoor Adventure", located next to the MWR. They sell propane, bait and rental fishing items, even scuba and snorkel equipment. The facility is closed on Mondays and Sundays with half day on Wednesdays & Saturdays. If you are looking for some great, fresh seafood, we can recommend the Safe Harbor Fish Market on A1A, near the Mayport ferry. At one end of the large market is a small food counter where they will serve you take-out or eat-in basket meals of fresh catch-of-the 'day' seafood. Tables are provided at dock side. A word of warning: Don't feed the sea gulls unless you can remember Alfred Hitcock's movie, 'The Birds'.
