Great trip to Camp Perry. Nearby area is very scenic including Port Clinton and Catawba Island. Military use only, but there is no entry gate. Check in at lodging office and get keys for rv site utilities and shower house / laundry. PX was closed on the weekend, and not much else nearby.
Only stayed overnight since it's not that far off I 80. No check-in, just drove to my spot. They seem pretty meticulous about grass cutting (watch your cables and hoses). Individual showers / restroom. Nice laundry. Camp is located off base so watch for the occasional "visitor".
Nice rv park but located near a swamp and train tracks. Buggy and occasional train traffic. Nice campground, showers, cabins, big overflow area. Entered on Missile Drive gate 2, but this gate closes in the evening so have to use Central Ave. Next to Cheyenne Frontier Days.
A quick stay on my way back east. Sites in the center are back-to-back and are close! Nice showers and laundry! Ice machine. Saw Antelope Island (ok). Easy access to I-84 to I-80.
Short stay to see San Francisco, Napa, and Westminster Woods (redwoods). Bought Clipper Bay area transit passes and caught the train in Petaluma to the ferry to San Fran. Nice not driving! Lots of bars /restaurants in Petaluma, but parking is tough. Base was nice. Cashless, so break out your plastic. Showers available at gym. Club available (drinks & food). Small latrine at teen center next to the campground. Fuel and base amenities available.
Nice visit at Monterey. Park was nice. Traveling to rv park from the office has you cut through a fairway (check before proceeding). Main base is close by for bx and other amenities. Recommend driving towards Big Sur, Cannery Row (tough to park), Carmel, Lovers Point and see the sea lions by the Coast Guard station.
Nice short stay for a few days. Saw LA and went to an Angel’s game. Showers available at the gym. Check in at Bldg 19 (which is not in between 17 and 18) Yorktown and Independence Streets. There’s a bar there. Enter gate and straight up Lexington to a right turn on Liberty. Pavement ends, dirt road to Shiloh Way, left to rv park. Utilities may be locked so get # for office so you can call them to access....
Nice stop off I-80. Lots of spots and close to Albuquerque. Had an ok meal at the bowling alley on base. We have a small trailer and were able to enter through the Eubank gate.
Just an overnight on our way west on I-40. Checked in around noon and was told I was lucky since a few rvs left earlier. I mentioned that I had a tent with me, and that if no rv sites were available, I would have gone that route. I was then told that no, tent camping is suspended. I asked why, and it had something to do with the height of the grass. Whatever. Plenty of parking space behind the...
Just an overnight stay on my way up I-295, but a safe, clean, friendly place! Camp host and MWR staff friendly and courteous as always! A fairly full CG so I had to stay in spot 18 down by the nature trail (obviously it was buggy). Showered up, did some laundry, walked over for a great breakfast at the nearby golf course, fueled up on base then hit the road. A great rest stop!
Stayed one night while traveling I-95 south since CG is close to the interstate and can fuel up on post. Sunday evening, nice and quiet with a cool breeze. Spot 11 was along the outer perimeter and was roomy and tidy. Hookups on right side. MWR representative was VERY courteous and helpful, and even called later to see how my visit went. Nice looking CG with the trees and moss. Have to sign rules and regs upon check-in. Interesting that...
A quick overnight stay during a trip up Rte 301. Got caught up in a Post Exercise for 1 1/2 hours and had to wait in the front gate reception area! Clean area and quiet!
Had a nice stay here on the waterfront (Sunset View Park). A few tidbits: Staff and hosts were friendly and helpful. Restroom / shower (N end) needed more custodial and maintenance attention. It's unsecure and non campers use it as well. Tiki bar next to the base marina doesn't take cash. The base marina rents boats, but your boating safety credential must be in their database, so call ahead for details. Parked at Trumbo Point lot (outside the security gate)...
Drove by to check it out.
Nice campground and facilities. Close to the ocean beach. Enjoyed the base Tiki-bar!
Nice, clean and safe place to stay.
