Entrance through the main (Shiloh) gate was straight thru, no right lane left lane dance. Follow the directions on this site to get to it. Folks at the gate may send you either way. For a BRAC listed base Grand Forks has a lot going on. Most of the base facilities appeared to be near new and in excellent condition. The BX and Commissary are top notch. The FamCamp is located in a quiet area with great facilities. Restrooms with showers and a laundry room just for FamCamp residents. Pretty popular as it was near full when we were there. A very good value even without the Golden Age Passport.
The base is located 13 miles North of town. Not to far off US2. Not for the Interstate traveler tho. The base is a busy installation with much going on. The Commissary and BX are first rate. And within walking distance of the "FamCamp". The "FamCamp" consists of six(6) concrete slabs on a tree line next to a community park. West facing with a full dose of afternoon sun. Amazing location on several levels. The manager is very friendly and helpful but some times hard to catch. He is very involved in a very active MWR program. The location on base is simple but well located. Commisary is 100yds away. Even an Auto Hobby shop on base. Good fuel prices. Washer/dryers worked well. Keep an eye out for fire ants.
