Poor management. Arrived a noon. Drove my car over to Bldg 1022. Had a reservation for a week, made with the management in Bldg 1022. Was informed I couldn't check in until after 1400. It was implied that we should leave and come back later. We watched this confusion with check-in go no throughout the week with other campers. This could be a nice FamCamp if managed properly. New Commissary since the last time we were here. Usually stay at Edwards when traveling through this region however they were full in November and full this January 6th. If you like Edwards, a call ahead to check availability might be a good idea. Desert Rat is a good camp. Be advised they raised the daily rate to $29.00 on January 1st.
We were lucky enough to stay hare for two weeks. This is the nicest campground in the US. The camp Hosts (Ken & Ricardo) take real pride in the camp and helping visitors. So many extras, the beach, hiking trails, yurts, picnic areas, group campfires (these tend to attract all campers), whale watching from the campground, several eagles live here, large concrete pads at each campsite and the view is unforgettable.
