Very nice location but be sure and call first according to the host only one of the eight sites are for traveling visitors as the rest are for folks working on post. Very nice full hook ups on concrete pad. Train runs directly behind the campground but wasn't a problem for us. Carol the host is very helpful. Check in was a breeze and received a nice site. Real value for the cost of $16.00. Site is level with good utilities. Beverly was extremely helpful explaining everything we needed to know at check in as this was our first visit to Barksdale. Hope they keep up the good work.

This is the second time we've been here during November 2009. We spent a week at the beginning of the month and came back again because we enjoyed it here. The staff is very helpful. The fishing has been good. Black Bass, White Bass, and catfish so far. San Angelo is a very interesting town with a lot of history. This campground is overpriced! There are many military campgrounds in better shape with better facilities for less money.

Just an update to the last post. There is a host on site at both the Gateway and the Annex Campgrounds. Facilities look very good at Gateway as a maintenance person is also on site 5 days a week. Hear that WiFI install is scheduled for July 1. Hope it comes through as it would be a great added feature.
