Great park and very friendly. Free laundry a real plus. There were a few what looked like full time families and lots of empty sites due to COVID. Only drawback and reason for not all fives - distance in height of concrete pads and road surface. Some on only an inch or so but many, like the one we had, was nearly four inches. They need to slope up the road surface to the pads. Not...
Nice little park - with no Amenities like WIFI or Bathhouse. Nathan does a great job in keeping things going but some the facilities do need some attention. Spots need new gravel and the road does too. Though the information says 14 day stay it was apparent that some folks had been there for months. Great location to visit Savannah, 8th AF Museum and Tybee Island
This is an article from the January 28 Valdosta Daily Times. Grassy Pond has gone public. We spent several nights there at the end of November 2014. Guess we will need to find another stop on our way south. http://www.valdostadailytimes.com/news/local_news/grassy-pond-goes-public/image_3e787eb0-a697-11e4-a90c-af1914a47438.html
Nice campground but small and narrow roadway. Met by Linda (Host) and led to our site. Too bad she only has 10 Verizon MiFi units. It would be advantages to have one unit setup near the 'office' for use by others on a limited basis.
Nice park and very wide sites in the 'new' area. Host took care of us even though we arrived after her normal hours. Down side has to do with the office. They are still using paper, plexi-glass and a grease pencil to maintain registered guests. It takes more time than necessary and certainly not what the Air Force of the 21st Century should be doing.
Great location and what has to be the largest sites in all the military campgrounds. Nice easy drive to the campground from an easy access gate. Staff super efficient and helpful (even made a copy of our completed log and updated the address info). Nice walk around the spokes. Looks like the plans for expansion will add a number of new FHU sites - if it gets off the ground. WiFi is a bit strange to...
Made our reservation on the Saturday before Labor Day and when we arrived our name and site number were posted on the office door. Nice facilities but two things prevented a 5 - very poorly maintained road into the park and the apparent long termer's sites. Broken chairs and a full sized refrigerator do not come close to meeting 'military' standards. Staff was great and this place is so close to downtown Cheyenne and all that city...
Spent only one night at the beginning of our western tour. Could see the landscaping and road into the campground needed attention but being so far from main base - well out of sight out of mind. Nice site and clean facilities. Homesteaders are either long term AD or some were certainly full timers using WP as northern home base. Very poor markings to get to campground from main gate.
Not sure what is going on here now. In years past the campground other than the spots for short term were always full. We had a reservation confirmed for site 28, on arrival found a unit on it. After some discussion we were placed on site 38. There are only 10 units in here. The 'Community Room' is only open 8:30 to 5. The WIFI seems good and the cable/satellite TV works too. ...
This is our fifth or sixth stay but our longest. We enjoyed all the activities and of course the weather. The weekly dining out trips were a pleasant surprise. The staff is great and the "rotation" is not really hard to take - 14 days and you move. But you don't have to move far and quickly go on the list to move back into a FHU site. They could do something better in organizing the dry-camp...
Called a week ahead and was told only available would be overflow. Arrived and staff is super and this place has one of the best shower facilities we've seen. Low value rating based on poor WIFI and limited cable channels (missed the BSC game). Something needs to be done about the GPS coordinates however. DO NOT use them to get to the park. You will be lead to a long closed entry point. Better use...
This place certainly deserves the award. Super staff, clean park and so nice. Spent five nights in a 'lake front' site. If there is one negative it is the distant loud speaker warning about the restricted area. We will return for certain to take in the Cumberland Island tour.
First time to this park. Hosts do a excellent job. Place is a bit crowded because sites were put in before rigs got so big - that why the 4 on Facilities. Arrived on a Saturday afternoon and went right into a partial hookup site. On Tuesday when we left there were several FHU sites available as the snow birds were fleeing north.
Spent over three weeks at Raptor Ranch and during that time, the men’s shower was closed for 21 days and the internet not available in one section of the campground for 18 days. The 60 day rotation seems very excessive, especially when one pays the reduced monthly rate. Thirty days on a site seems like long enough and would allow short-termers at least a chance for a FHU site. To avoid any appearance of impropriety, the rotation list...
