We stayed two nights in a 30 foot travel trailer. An absolutely amazing place! Just fabulous. Full hook up sites on concrete pads with lake views for only $14. If you have an America the Beautiful pass you get 25% off, so the cost is only $10.50. Payment is by iron ranger so bring exact change cash. We stopped here in late June just to recon the place. There were only two rigs here then. Now there are five, counting...
I might rate this park higher when it has restrooms and a laundry facility, but since it does not, I gave it only three stars. It will be many years before there is any shade here, and from the look of things the addition of restrooms and laundry isn't happening anytime soon. Another major negative is the high intensity lighting surrounding the RV spaces. We stay in site #10 and it was as bright as high noon all night long,...
Stayed two nights in site #24 in a 30 foot travel trailer. The gravel site was level side to side but we really had to crank up our tongue jack to get level front to back. Verizon cell phone reception was only one bar, sometimes two. Antenna TV reception was outstanding. The restrooms were modern and clean. Famcamp laundromat has two washers and two dryers. Very quiet at night with occasional jet noise during the day (hey, it's an Air...
Otter Lake has 17 no hook up RV spaces and 7 tent spaces. The listed info above is not correct. The RV spaces are about three times larger than most RV sites and the space between each site is huge. Even if the park was full each RVer would have tons of room. When we camped here for two nights we were the only people in the park - no other RVers and no tenters. Otter Lake is about...
Good things to know about this famcamp: The 14 day stay limit is a myth. Some of the campers have been here for months and act like they own the place. One such camper saw our rig approaching the site next to hers and blocked the empty site with chairs and dog bowls apparently because they did not want a neighbor and use that site as their play area for kids and dogs. Despite several long term campers it...
We were extremely disappointed in this RV park since we love the Fort Lewis post. First, the prices quoted on this website are out of date.We paid $28 for a full hook up site for one night. Cable TV requires a converter box which means a $50 deposit. Since the office where you receive and return the box has business hours if you arrive late or plan on leaving prior to 9:00AM you cannot have a cable box. Antenna...
The RV park is very centrally located on base. It is easy walking distance to the ITT Center where you must check in, the gas station is across the street, the laundry/showers are close as are the fitness center, bowling alley and Spuds, the "chow hall." The laundry is free! Spuds is not a good deal, I would avoid it. The bowling alley has an amazingly large menu, great prices and excellent food. There is a relatively quiet area...
IMPORTANT INFO - There are a handful of dry camping spaces available if the park is full. The price is excellent for the area. It seems most of the residents are long term campers. The maximum stay is actually only 14 days, not 30 as stated above, but residents can roll over their stay indefinitely if the park is not full and no one is waiting. I was told some of the residents have been here for years!
We arrived without reservations on a Saturday. Camp hosts Lisa and Hugh welcomed us and made us feel right at home. All the pull through spaces were taken but we got a back in. The back in spaces are somewhat tightly packed, but acceptable. The back in spaces are in a parking lot but there are picnic tables and plenty of grass to the rear of each space. As of January 1st, daily rate is $22 for back in, $24...
This is a brand new RV park and the nice folks who administer it from the Wings Inn are also new at RV park stuff, of course. I mention that because I have a few suggestions that should not be taken as criticisms. We loved the RV park. It is located on base, far from any noise or light. The spaces are gigantic pull throughs. They could easily be half the size and still be more than adequate. The area...
Excellent, concrete pads and roomy spaces. The park is nestled in a nice woodsy area adjacent to one of the three golf courses on base. Kind of far to the commissary/exchange and the wifi was often too slow to use, but overall I still give it five stars. The camp office people were extremely friendly and helpful, and one of the camp hosts came over to our site and introduced himself and his wife after we were settled in. Very...
WARNING: THE GPS COORDINATES IN THE MILITARY RV CAMPING GUIDE BOOK ARE WAY WRONG! Do not use them, they are at least ten miles off and left us completely lost. The GPS coordinates on this website are different than the ones in the guide book but I cannot say if the ones on this website are correct since we didn't use them. The written directions in the guidebook and on this website are good. Another big deal: The military RV...
A couple of important things to know, first off: The directions on this website are correct and the directions in the military RV camping guide book are wrong. Take exit 188 as this website says, not exit 191 as the military RV camping guide book says. The check in at Outdoor Recreation is closed on Wednesdays. We arrived on a Wednesday and checked in with one of the two camp hosts at the famcamp. She was friendly and helpful. The...
What a fabulous place! We stayed at Sigsbee Park for six nights, in a part of it known as "the rockpile" because the spaces are gravel. We were three rows from the water but still had a water view. The spaces are very closely packed together but nobody, including us, seemed to care. Everyone we met was super friendly, probably the friendliest folks of any military park we have ever been at. Check in was quick and easy, and a...
First the good: Wonderful location. Tampa is a scenic city and MacDill is an incredibly beautiful military base. The famcamp is well kept, neat and clean. We had a water view site on a level concrete pad. Now the bad: When we checked in we had to provide our RV registration, proof of insurance for our trailer and our truck, and a shot record for our dog. Both my wife and I had to provide our full names, plus...
We stayed at campground A (Anchor Cove). The sites here do not have sewer hook ups but for only $13 a night it's one of the best bargains anywhere. Wonderful, shaded sites with water views, literally steps from the beach. The septic dump facility for Anchor Cove is oddly located at the far end of the campground, so you have to pull your rig through some very narrow and windy turns with big trees guarding the edges of the dirt...
