Holloman is not a destination location. So with 35 FHU sites you would think there would be no problem getting a spot. Guess again. We were lucky to get one of 2 open spots upon arrival. Of the 35 sites we counted 30 occupied by full time active duty with a few retirees thrown in. We have watched this and many famcamps slowly morph into trailer parks, but this is the worse circumstance we have ever witnessed. No limit...
The rates shown are not accurate. It is 28 per day for the pull throughs and some of the back ins that now allow two spots instead of one for additional room. Weekly rate is 180. The other backins are still cramped and close to each other for 26 per day or 165 per week. I would avoid this area if I could. I really enjoyed my stay for the quiet area and the wide open spaces available for...
Great location for the local sites. Rushmore, Badlands, Deadwood, Black Hills, etc. Two weeks was about a week too long. Free washer dryers cost us an afternoon of time due to the length of the the wash cycles??? But it was FREE. On the negative side we were told no vehicle washing yet I observed 2 sites that had leaking water outlets that leaked continuously for two weeks. I reported the sites and finally saw one repaired the day...
We have been here three times over the last 10 years. WiFi has been a major improvement. Washer Dryer facility very limited for the number of potential users. Great location for local attractions, biking, jogging, etc. I suggest checking out the local laundry in town. Same price, excellent accessibility, about 4-5 miles from famcamp. My only confusion is why the AF is allowing so many of the recreation famcamps to be used as semi permanent housing for active duty...
This is the third or fourth time we have stayed at this location. The quiet seclusion and the cost is why we come here and it is the only things that keep us returning. This review is for those of you who generally have famcamp like expectations while RVing. My biggest complaint is that well over 25% of the spots are being lived in full time by active duty and retirees. One fellow we met has...
We have visited this location at least once a year for well over 7 years and continue to watch it decline in upkeep. Without a full time host it is going downhill. Campers no longer pick up after their pets. Trash around the park. Cars/Trucks park on grass with little regard. Internet is near worthless unless you are in the community room. The location and the price still trumps all the complaints, but this...
Pleasant RV experience and good location to drive to the beach cities about 35 miles south. Very spacious parking. No bath house, no internet. Only bad experience was at the base library. In all the years we have been traveling, this base has the distinction of being the ONLY location that would not extend the courtesy to a retired military member, of a temporary card to allow checking out of books or dvds. In my...
This place may be one of worse experiences we have encountered at a military famcamp. Made a reservation only to arrive and find an RV in our site. Contacted MWR and a rep was sent over. Rather than put us in one of the sites that was empty and reassign the site that was occupied to the next arrival (no difference in sites, all are crap), we had to sit around for 2 hours while the owner...
Very nice clean park, but as with most of these facilities, they are becoming less of a value or benefit to RVers. Internet is available within 50 ft or so of the laundry area.
Great location. Very little for the money. 30 amp with water and a dump station. Internet worthless, cell phone signal faint at best. I don't tv but I observed fellow campers going crazy trying to get dish reception. Stayed long enough to visit academy and FDR.
Average in most respects. Internet reception is sketchy at best. For three days in a row I had to wander down to the office and ask them to reset the router. They insisted in made no difference but doing so reestablished internet reception. Seems like they could have learned from my experience rather than assume it was just over used.
This is the fourth year we have visited this facility. Increase in prices, decrease in overall experience. In the last two years they added considerable spaces. In the past they had two camp hosts (overkill). Now there is not a camp host, so rules are not enforced. While there a week I experienced loose dogs, barking dogs being tied outside, ladies bathhouse could not be entered by code, cars parked on the grass. No...
Comfortable park with excellent location and access to base and local facilities. Price is high for 30 amp, no internet, no cable tv. Our famcamps should be able to match or beat local passport america discounts in the area. I have traveled a lot over the last three years and it seems that so many are raising their prices to approach the $20 threshold with little added amenities.
Great Staff, Lots of room. A bit overpriced considering there is no cable tv and weak internet reception in the park. Suggestions made to the manager include revamping this reservation occupancy policy to allow other than fulltime snow birds to occupy the park in the desirable winter months. No reason to not have a rotating system similar to Davis Monthan AFB AZ. As a minimum, leave half of them open to non winter homesteaders. Most positive not was...
Great base for the facilities available to visitors. You must check out the dining facility. Retirees can eat there at any time and it was superb. Now regarding the campground. My biggest complaint is that the price went up $2 a night since last year with no improvement I could see. Wifi as advertised would have been a great improvement but it was down the entire ten days I was there. When asked I...
I can't add much to the description or experience that has not already been said. The price has gone up $2 since last year, but nothing has improved. Very odd way of charging for reservations. I was charged two nights upon making the reservation and my other two nights before I arrived. After arrival when I inquired I was told they normally charge 2 nights before arrival and the remaining part of the stay upon arrival,...
