We stayed one night on our way to San Antonio. The full hookup sites (non reservation) were full and seemed to be long term folks. The reservation sites (water and electric only) were mostly full by evening. For one night and $15, it was fine. The only drawback is there is no shade. In the summer it would be miserable! Some of the power pedestals were missing covers, including the site we had. I told the lady in the checkin...
Amenities only 4 stars because there is no wifi in the park. We really like this RV Park. The staff is excellent. Back in November of 2021 a young man driving their riding lawn mower (with roll bars) ran into 1 of our bedroom slide outs and scrapped up the pain, (the roll bars hit the slide out). The staff filled out an incident report and paid the body shop directly for the repairs that were needed when we got...
This a nice camp ground to just chill out, which we like to do! The sites are laid out and spaced in such a way (the ones with the concrete pads) that you feel that you have a lot of room between you and your neighbor. We've been there in summer (never again), fall (great) and spring (so so). Too, hot and humid in the summer and the wind in the spring, is unfortunately is practically non stop. We love...
We stayed only 4 days in the grass sites next to the check in office. They were fine and I believe there is more space between the sites than the ones with the concrete pads. Unfortunately there is NO shade, except a couple lucky people! Even then it is minimal! Yes, it’s breezy. I was able to deploy my awning for a while a couple days. We left early because our a/c had a hard time keeping our 38’ class...
Stayed 2X, once on our way to Corpus Christi and then on our way back towards our NM home. Both stays we’re fine, On our way back we had a nice shaded site. We could only stay for 2 days as the camp was totally booked. I was shocked, it’s summer in SA, a 100 degrees! Moral of the story: you have to have advanced reservations!
We were able to get a pull through with shade! The facility is old, but functional. The water connection is in a hole and the handle is broken, so had to use pliers to turn it on. The washers & dryers (2 each) are old, but worked fine. The 2 young people in the office are very friendly, but new.
We were very pleased over all with the facility. The concrete pads were very helpful for my wife who uses a walker. If you venture out in the "grass" you'll end up tracking goat heads into your rig. I feel sorry for kids and pets as goat heads are everywhere! The staff in the office is very friendly! We needed some unexpected repairs (both satellite dish and water heater crapped out) within 2 days of each other. Dorthy in the...
We always enjoy our visit to FC. Unfortunately shortly after we arrived everything started to get crazy with Coronavirus. Stuff started closing and then the panic buying. We saw the handwriting on the wall with all the closings and decided to to check out early from our month long reservation and head home. Two days after we left, we got a call from FC saying that they were closing the RV park & canceling all reservations up to 6/1. I...
We stayed there going to CA and coming back east from CA in September, for 2 nights each time. George and Vickie were very gracious hosts as many have already said! I only wish that they were open after 10/1 and a little before 5/1. It’s a very pretty and quiet (trains are really NO problem) location. I found it difficult to get the OTA tv stations while on the NE side of the of the park, (probably trees) but...
We were again skeptical about this CG, given some of the negative reviews. We found the facility in decent shape. I’ve seen greener grass, but is watered and NOT brown. The gentleman that checked us in, Nick, I believe is his name was very pleasant and helpful. I also find the price very competitive compared to the civilian options. It’s California and compared to many other Western States, it’s expensive (military sites included). There were some homesteaders, but that’s...
After reading some of the reviews, I was a little skeptical about this facility! Well, I was pleasantly surprised! Yes, some of sites are a little tight getting into, but nothing in my opinion, like some of like the potential woes expressed by some reviewers. We’re in site 12 with a 38’ class “A”. Got in with one attempt. Only had to maneuver a little for rooftop satellite dish to get a clear shot at the sky, no big...
Since the golf course has been closed, it's not as much "fun" as in my previous reviews! The facility is fine. We still enjoy our visits. The old golf pro shop is now the MWR facility and the check in place for the RV park. You can't miss it: pull into a site, look straight ahead & what you see is the MWR office. I believe the driving range is still available.
I beg to differ with the person who wrote the previous review: we've stayed in all 3 rows and in my opinion, the front row is the best! The other are fine, so I wouldn't be disappointed in any position! We were there over Thanksgiving and having our family able to do s'mores over the fire pit was precious! It's subjective, but that's my opinion. Making reservations over a holiday "is" a challenge, but it can be done. Yes,...
Stayed in the condo for 2 weeks at Easter time. The condos are nice, but on the pricey side. They actually lower the daily cost from $145 to $132 the second day we were there. Check in was a little strange as we arrived at around 20:00 and we had to go to the security office. The check in is in a fairly dark hallway with a one way mirror type of window where you can not see anyone!...
we have stayed at WSMR often and always enjoy the beauty and quiet surroundings. They have installed new electric pedestals and "night light" stanchions. It can cause some parking problems for rigs with slide-outs and short hookups. The pedestal and stanchion are directly opposite each other, toward the front of of the site, right on the edge of the site. This makes for a narrow space about a 1/3 of the way from the front of the site. Since...
We stayed there for 3 nights (on our way back from Florida) and found the facility and location to be great! Since I'm a retired sub sailor and started out on diesel boats, an occasional train was NO big deal! Entry road could use some work, but again since we live in the mountains on NM on a dirt road, no big deal.. The sites are wide and long. The trees are high enough to provide some shade, but...
