We stayed here twice this summer; on the way east and then on the return. Both times we found this site to be a great value and a peaceful, friendly retreat. The bathroom/showers were very clean. This is one of the best places we stayed during a 4.5/month trip around the country. The host was incredibly helpful; guiding us to the site to make sure we were settled. The location allows great access to Oklahoma City and is only about three miles from the BX/commissary. A shoppette is directly next door. The facilities were very clean. Directions are good; no problem finding the base and site. It's several miles off I-40, not a problem but unexpected. We didn't go into Little Rock but if that's someone's plan be prepared. The site is in a nice location on the base, convenient to the BX/ commissary and shopped. The sites area pretty basic and seem to be maintained in a haphazard manner. We've never been to this part of the country before. This site was in a great location to see both the academy and the local area. We found it a bit tedious to have to go around the lake each time we came and went but it wasn't a real issue. Good hook ups. Convenient to the base and BX/commissary facilities. It was a bit difficult to find the site. It's buried well within the base, next to the housing area and next to a fence with off-base housing on the other side. Site itself was clean and fairly quite; deer graze right next to the site. There are no bath/toilet/shower facilities. We had a problem making contact with the staff. Stayed there twice this summer. First time we stayed in the lower section. Even with the staff cleaning the bathrooms daily the bathrooms were dingy and rusted. Bugs made it into the facilities quickly after cleaning. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful; very customer oriented. This was a great place to say. It's a bit off the beaten path but well worth the time to get there. The site is right on the lake and they have a large amount of rental equipment available. We paid about $30/hr for a pontoon boat. When we were at other non-DoD facilities around the country the price was $150-$200/hr; a great deal. Second time we've stayed here; both times in the newer area. Office staff was very helpful and friendly. However, the bathrooms need some help; both in terms of cleanliness and the reliability of hot water. Twice, hot water stopped while I was taking a shower. We'll stay again, but I'll call first to see if the facilities are working.
This is a very nice location. Bathroom showers were a bit dirty when i used them. The last day the park was without water due to a main line break nearby. All told we would stay there again. We entered and exited from both the north and south gates, and were not inspected at any time.
This was a convenient place to park and visit family in the area for a reunion. The park is pretty basic (the new section). You're out in the open on gravel parking spaces. Everything is there you need. It doesn't have much in the way of character; trees, plants, etc. All told it satisfied the parking needs and the price was ok.
My wife and i had a great experience at Ft Tuthill. We spent one day visiting the Flagstaff area and one day visiting Sedona. The park is in a great position to get to both of those.
