This is not a Military campground in the sense most would think. It is not on the base proper and is open to the public. we stayed a number of years ago and it was not nearly the experience I have had at other military campgrounds. Not well kept up, and the patrons were horrible. Clearly not former military patrons. We had a couple groups raising all kinds of hell until well after midnite. Quiet hourse started at 10:00pm....
On our trip from Wisconsin to Corpus Christy, TX and back, this was one of three military campgrounds we stayed at. It was also the best with Tinker AFB and Lackland AFB being the other two. The camp host is non-existent it seems. I was there three nights and NEVER was able to physically meet the camp host and phone communications are just as bad. But, at least the sites are clearly marked as reserved or available so you can just pick an available site and fill out the registration card and pay fees. But, you will want to use a check for this. Very clean and well taken care of. Bathrooms and showers were free and the best I have seen at a campground. The camp host was great and walked down to out site to show us where it was and where to park. Parking is the big drawback. Each site has assigned parking and some are right next to the camp site and others, like mine are across the road and down from the camp site. ...
