I'll have to be honest and say the good with the not-so-good. The good - The location is safe on the Air Force Reserve base. I am retired military and enjoyed seeing the different aircraft on the base. If you have business in the Moreno Valley or Riverside area, this is a good location. There are many stores, restaurants, and gas stations located right outside the gate. There is a nice commissary nearby. It is also outside the gated area....

First time visit. We called ahead to see if there would be available campsites. There were plenty of sites to choose from. Most of the sites are pull-through with FHU. Some sites on the perimeter are back in. Bath house was pretty clean. There were two washers and two dryers in the laundry room. One washer has been broke down for "months" from what we were told. As others have said, there is a shoppette within a short walking distance....
I recommend using the west-side gate off of Louisiana Blvd SE (Gibson gate). The gate on the east side of the base (Eubank gate) was under construction during my visit. The campground typically has plenty of open sites in the hot summer months. Most site are FHU but there are some dry camping sites too. The bathhouses need some work (cleanliness and keeping supplies stocked up). The bathhouse on the east side campground had one of the two individual bathrooms...
Stayed at this campground for a one night stopover while traveling on I-10. The campground is about a 20-minute drive from I-10 and is just outside the gate into NAS Whiting Field. The campground is neat and orderly but small with only 10 campsites at the moment. The staff in the MWR office are very helpful and you can make full arrangements for a campsite on the phone without actually going to the MWR office. All hook-up connections were good...
As you can see by the photos, this Famcamp is more of a close-quarters RV parking area. This is not a good place. There is nothing special about the individual campsites except they do have FHU and the price is reasonable. The Famcamp will work for an overnight stay although I will avoid it in the future. If you do decide to go for an overnight stay, I would recommend parking in the overflow area. The commissary and exchange...
