Older CG without sewer and only 30 amp power. Only two or three spots for over 40' rigs. Great location though. Made reservations by phone through Navy Bed = they won't give you one if you say you're over 30' long, but over half the spots will take up to 35' or longer. I was told by another camper to make them online to reserve a longer spot as you can't make one with the MWR people directly. There...
Absolutely beautiful FamCamp. We only spent one night, but will be back soon! Only nits are that the spots could be more level and the check in office is difficult to turn around at - watch out if you've a large Class A! (Our 38' 5er was OK with a back & forth turn around.) Most sites look onto the water and all are shaded. WiFi works OK where we were in #14, a pull through.
Our second stay here. Just wish they'd cut some of the small trees that make getting around with big rigs very difficult. Other than that, this is a great CG and now they're part of the FamCamp family so I got my Passport stamped! (Didn't do that four years ago.) Super location in a really interesting town. Went to all the nearby National Monuments and Parks, including the Grand Canyon, as well as visited the Lowell Observatory. Got to...
Be prepared for LOTS of wind! Otherwise this is a superb CG. The host at the CG is professional, friendly and extremely helpful. Rapid Falls has anything you could possibly need, the Commissary and Exchange are nearby and the Express is a block away - and sells diesel! There's an Auto Hobby Shop within a mile where I was able to change the oil in my diesel truck. Also was able to get a new tire for our trailer...
Didn't have any problem making reservations. Very clean, good local over the air TV, but NO WIFI! Koski Hall has some international trainees and the wifi is off. None available anywhere else on base that we could find. Four of the ten spots were taken by some sort of shelters. The location is very good for seeing Ft. Clatsop and an interesting State Park - Ft. Stevens. There's also an elk herd on the base that can be seen...
Only one person works in the very small office. He was very helpful, but no one else answers the phone when he's not at his desk. Roads are a bit tight, but can be managed with some care. No satellite TV possible as there are tall trees everywhere, but we got over 20 over-the-air channels with our roof antenna. There's also only limited internet at the office and 'clubhouse'. Those negatives aside, the park is very clean, well located...
This review is on the original FamCamp, now called the "Annex". Although Gateway doesn't take reservations as they are "never full", they close to it today (unless you want to tent camp, don't mind not having power, etc.). The higher rated off-base part is completely full and the old "Annex" has only one working empty space this morning. There are some tent spaces available and several RV ones with cones in them as they've power or other problems. This...
Listing says rate is $25 - $30, but we were charged $50 per night! While the CG is huge, immaculate, spacious and the staff helpful & friendly, there's no wifi and no cable. If they had them it would probably be worth the $50. Also, DO NOT use the GPS coordinates to find it since it's around the north side of the main post, away from Highway 21 that runs east-west on the south side of it. Mine kept...
Don't know about the previous bad reviews & comments, but our experience has been one of the best we've had anywhere. I called about a week in advance and made our reservation, but our travel from Offutt to here were shortened by a heavy rain storm, so we arrived around noon (check in is at 2 PM). Went all the way to the CG without seeing 1022. The host was very friendly and said that they'd probably check us in...
Great campground and staff! Slightly dated facilities, but everything is clean and well kept up. Didn't experience any issues about being near the end of the runway and aircraft noise (seems most of the larger ones here have new engines and are much quieter!). The pads are long enough for our 38' fifth wheel and our full-sized crew cab dually doesn't stick out onto the road. LOML wasn't impressed with the laundry facilities, but there's a laundromat a few miles...
Great campground! Helpful host, ditto management. Not too far to base facilities, but not on post so it's quiet. ONLY down tick is for slow internet service (reminds me of dial-up speeds!), but at least it's there. Also, only Verizon works for cell phones, and even that's not great. Still, this is a really nice CG and we'll be staying here again if we're in the area.
Nice CG, although a little high priced. Host is active duty, but goes out of his way when he's on-site. We entered via the 'front' gate without any difficulties - it was typically tight, but good. All spots are back in, but concrete and easy to do. Only issue we had wasn't with the CG, but when we tried to leave on a Saturday morning early. The only gate open was the commercial one, but they have a really tight...
Stayed in the newer graveled area. Large & long sites, but had to spend time shoving gravel around to level our 5th wheel. Could have been due to balloon festival overuse, and wasn't difficult to fix. Someone pulled next to us the next day that tried using boards to level their TT, so it wasn't just our spot. Host was great when we came in on a Sunday, but one of the regular staff on Monday didn't seem to be...
We arrived expecting a dump overrun by teenagers (by previous reviews). It IS an older CG without the concrete pads many of us prefer, but it's extremely quiet and peaceful (there were only five other RV/trailers and very few in the cabins). We had no trouble getting our 38' Montana into our site, nor parking our full size bed & crew cab pickup in front of it. There are nature trails that wander about the old post's...
Very clean CG, staff was very professional and friendly. Our previous commercial CG near Deming was nearly full, gave us tons of local info and cost $14 for a one night stay WITH great internet. Agave wasn't half full and had terrible internet for $20 a night. Laundry facility is tight to move around in, but clean, reasonably priced and had good machines. Did some driving about Tuscon - a little third-worldlike, so watch for red light...
VERY clean and well cared for facility. Snug for big rigs (38' 5er and full sized dually), but concrete pads. Staff (Linda) was extremely helpful and courteous. Only negative is no wifi at the cg or at the Exchange (we sat in front of the Popeye's and couldn't get anything to connect). Library is not well marked (it's near the bowling alley), but wifi is great and there's soft furniture as well. I'd certainly give it 5 stars if...
