First thing first: for $25/night on a 30- and 50-amp FHU concrete pad in a secure location you simply can’t go wrong, but there are some drawbacks. The site was long enough for our 44’ coach and TOAD, but not wide enough from having to walk on the wet grass and/or mud on either side after it rains; 6-feet wider would have made a world of difference! There is ample room between sites (not cramped). Our site (#43) was quite unlevel (8-inch slope rear to front), but we were eventually able to level out. We didn’t use the public restroom or showers but they are clean and very well maintained. The building doubles are a severe WX shelter. Did not see any laundry facilities but there may be some in the main office building. B-52s occasionally flew overhead, but never at night during our 5-day stay. Although the sites are concrete, the roads are dirt with potholes and were still soft and muddy when we arrived despite not having rained for several days prior. There is no fire ring or BBQ grill but the sites have new, steel, rubber-coated picnic tables. Maximum static water pressure was 83 psi and our 50-amp site provided very steady power. The campground is well-lit at night but not intrusively so; just enough so it’s not pitch black. The camp’s Wi-Fi was fairly good during the day but not so much at night. T-Mobile was 2-4 bars; mostly 4G w/occasional 5G. We would stay here again.Tips If you’ll arrive/depart M-F 0800-1700, you must use the Industrial Gate, which is intended for large commercial vehicles. It’s convenient because it’s the closest gate to the campground. Outside of those hours, or on the weekend, you’ll need to use the Main Gate. Call the Security Forces @ 318-456-2551 twenty minutes prior arrival or departure so the sentries can remove the ballers before you arrive or depart you’ll cause a traffic backup. It’s a single lane entry and exit and ballers are used in both directions. The height of the entry gate is not posted but it’s at least 15-ft high. If you arrive after hours, the staff will leave a map w/directions to your site at the FamCamp. Sites are assigned on your arrival date either in person when checking in or by phone (they called me at 1630). The campground appears divided into 2 sections. The back-in section where the main office is located and the pull-thru section about ¼ of a mile further up the road. The latter section seems to be for short-term stays. FamCamp: 318-456-2679. Unfortunately, as far as Shreveport goes, there isn’t much to see or do and for us at least, a disappointment. We tried the highly-rated Louisiana Boardwalk only to find over half of the store space (60-75%) vacant. Maybe a great place in a previous time, but no longer.
