We are new to full time RVing and do not have any experience with other military campgrounds. We found Hanscom AFB Famcamp to be an outstanding experience. The purpose of our RV adventure is to see the history of our country. At Hanscom Famcamp we found it in boatloads. The base is located in between Lexington and Concord MA and on our first day we visited the Minuteman National Historic Park, which was less than ten minutes from the famcamp. Boston, Salem, and Quincy Mass are all within an hour drive. So much history to see and experience! The facilities at the CG were clean and functional. Camp management was super attentive to our needs and kept us informed when power was lost to the camp for a brief period of time. Each evening when weather permitted there was a campfire for everyone to enjoy. We met numerous super fellow campers and the camp management and staff worked diligently to maintain and improve the roads and hookups. The famcamp is very pet friendly. Access to the camp is through a quiet off-base neighborhood and it sits adjacent to the base runways. The air traffic is almost exclusively private and commercial small jets and planes which take off and land all day long but pretty much ends by bedtime. Hanscom AFB has all the necessities (commissary, BX, Class VI, gym, theater, chapel) but does lack a laundromat. The famcamp provides five washers and dryers. Overall we could not have had a better experience for our first time on the road and would definitely recommend the Hanscom AFB Famcamp to friends and family. We plan to return next year.
