I do not understand why there are no additional reviews of this Campground since 2018. I am currently staying at Sea Girt and came here wIth expectations to do some Surf Fishing. I knew due to my early arrival on May 20th that the Water would not be turned on nor would I have access to the Bathhouse. No problem for me on both those counts but what was not told and which makes the early reservation rather disingenuous is they do not tell you they keep the Beach Area Closed / locked behind a Screen Link fence until Memorial Day weekend so forget about fishing on the beach. If you have any issues you can forget about reaching the Management Staff unless it between the hours of 9-12 on a Wednesday. All calls go unanswered and they don’t have the courtesy of providing an option to leave a voice message. I also found most of the Sites have an incorrect crazy sewer drain fitting that does not allow a proper connection. To get a RV connection to function you need to pull it off to get to the 4 inch pipe underneath to connect so the sewer drain will flow downhill and not be attempting to flow uphill. Hey, not all is dismal, the Base Security and Base Maintenance folks are great to work with and yes, the location is great to access off base Restaurants and Beaches. For a Fisherman having the Beach open from 9am to 7pm cuts out the prime early morning and late evening surf fishing time so you need to leave the base to go to one of the other towns to fish - that’s just crazy. During the Day if you want to fish they relegate you to the northernmost part of the beach which means you need to walk 500 - 600 yards across the beach with all your gear to get to that part of the beach. I camp at a lot of Military Bases but this is the worst managed Campsite I’ve seen yet. BTW, the State of NJ runs this base so no Dogs are allowed on the Base - go figure that one out! I guess if you want to go to sit on the beach between 9am and 7Pm then this is the place for you but not so good if you’re and early riser like me or a fisherman.

Sea Girt was great for the second time. Visited last year and was able to again this summer. Victoria was awesome. I let her know that two of the shower heads where broke at the bath and she took care of by before I got back to RV. Speaking of showers they are some of the best out door showers. I would never use the RV's. Went out to dinner and there were plenty of choices. Just Yelp and you'll be fine. The nights where so quiet and there was even local firer works going on one night. Now what you go to Sea Girt for. The BEACH! Very lucky we had a great week with weather. The beach was so beautiful! Make sure to visit the free museum on post at some point. My opinion, if you like the beach check it out.

We had not visited this RV park for three years, but it was everything positive that we remembered it to be.  The very deep back-in sites give you plenty of room for any size RV and associated vehicles.  Given the depth of the sites, good backing abilities are required, however.  The sites are gravel and relatively level--I had to put some blocks under my tires on the driver side to keep them from dangling in mid-air once we were leveled.  Hookups are good with the exception of the sewer connections which are raised at least a foot above ground level.  The person who designed these connections obviously had no concept of RVing.  It took a bit of ingenuity to hook our sewer hose to the park's sewer inlet.  With that being said, the RV park has beautiful water views, a beautiful swimming beach within walking distance, and full recycling.  The NJ Transit train has a station, five minutes away, in Manasquan where you can catch the train into NYC.  There is no WiFi and the reservation process can be a bit tedious, but overall this is a very good value to be on the Jersey shore and relatively close to NYC.  We would stay here again if we were in the area.

Our first stay at a military fam camp. It's a bit pricey for a fam camp, from looking around. Though it's still much cheaper than other campgrounds in the area. There is an inlet right behind the campground where you can go crabbing or fishing, though we didn't. There is also a very nice beach right next to the campground as well. The beach is also part of the training center and open to military only as well. The beach doesn't get too crowded, either. The bath house was clean and up-to-date. We live nearby, and this is a great place for the first camp out of the season and we plan to stay here quite often.

The location is great, however there were several issues with the sites: 1) The sites site next to a stagnant body of water, the mosquitoes are unbearable; 2) The hook up for sewer sit approximately 18 inches above grade on an angle. Draining tanks were a nightmare; 3) The bath house was dirty, poorly kept and in need of repair and cleaning. The guard at the gate was helpful, the location is convenient. If they address these issues, I would return.

A.M. left this review using the Directory software: This was my fist time Camping at Sea Girt, When I arrived the guard at the gate gave me my key to the bath house. The spot was a good size had lots of length but the width was a little small. The sewer hook ups were a weird angle and height. The electrical was good, actually had 50 amp service. Only thing that bothered me was the goose droppings everywhere. If they would allow pets that would solve the goose problem. Overall I had a great time already made reservations for 3 more stays.

E.P. left this review using the Directory software: This is the second time we've stayed here and enjoyed it both times. Even though the price is extremely high, $30/night, especially with no WiFi or cable, we would stay here again. Gravel campsites are all uneven, however, close to the beach and quiet, really didn't even know we had neighbors. Except for the State of NJ DOC and SP, not an awful lot of activity.

We've camped at Sea Girt for a few summers and look forward to coming back. The RV sites are situated along a saltwater inlet, where there is a dock for fishing and crabbing. We haven't fished, but we always catch bluecrabs for dinner. Each site has a charcoal grill and a long picnic table w/ heavy-duty plastic slats. In the middle of the row of RV sites is a bath house w/ 3 outdoor and 1 indoor shower per gender and 4 or 5 toilet stalls. The only reason I give cleanliness a 4 out of 5 stars is because the bath house isn't as clean as it used to be. It was a brand new building when we started camping here, so I notice the difference each year. Keep in mind, too, that the bath house is shared by campers and beach patrons. The beach is within walking distance from the sites, about half a mile. There is also parking at the beach if you choose to drive. Beach access is FREE and open only to military ID holders and their guests, so it is not expensive and overly crowded like most NJ beaches. There is a playground near the bath house and a little military museum at one end of the RV sites. There is a motorcycle training field across the street from the RV sites. You may hear the engines during the day, but its not too loud. And sometimes, because this is an active police academy and guard training facility, you will sometimes see and hear the cadets running or marching past the sites. There are plenty of grocery stores, shopping malls, restaurants, and businesses just outside the gate in the adjacent town of Manasquan. Nearby attractions: 10 mins to Point Pleasant Boardwalk (rides, arcades, aquarium, restaurants)
30 mins to Six Flags Great Adventure Theme Park; 30 mins to Jackson Premium Outlets Shopping Center; 1 hr 10 mins to New York City (NJ Transit train to NYC also available nearby); 1 hr 30 mins to Philadelphia; 1 hr 30 mins to Atlantic City. I hope you found this helpful!

This is a hidden treasure. the beach is only yards away. New Jersey beach access is controlled with fees, so this site provides free beach access. We look forward to returning. The area provides train axccess to New York.
