Beautiful location and a staff that went out of their way to find us a site. A couple of important notes, though. 1. This is the first installation we have visited that requires RV's to use the truck lane at the gates. The sign says delivery trucks use right lane, but they mean anything larger than a car. They told us a large vehicle would not fit through the serpentine barriers. 2. The RV park office has moved to building 3288? - the old Frontier Club. You can see it almost straight ahead when you pull into a site (the RV storage lot is next to it), but it is about a 1/2 mile hike. There's a closer building surrounded with construction fencing that may have been the office at one time. Didn't see any restrooms or showers, but I didn't really look. 3. The sites are nice, but narrow with posts on each side that required some jockeying to fit the slides around them. Plenty long even with the toad hooked up. 4. The VZN internet service was good enough to stream TV the evening we arrived, but went away the next morning. Probably only one cell tower in the whole county. Overall, this is a very nice fam camp with some spectacular views and lots of quietness. We'll be back after the museum re-opens.

This park is at the base of the Organ Mountains and the view of them is gorgeous. This park offers eight full hookup pull thru sites and approximately four overflow sites. Overflow sites offer electric hookups only and are along a curb. On initial check-in, there was a snafu and another camper had thought they had extended and needed to be called back to pack up so we could pull in. Other than that, there were no other issues with service, but I'd recommend confirming your reservations before arrival. The base is small and quiet and there was a large track area to exercise on. The golf course has been closed and is now used by walkers and bikers. One word of caution if you have pets. The grass areas (and even the gravel if the wind is strong enough) are full of sharp little burrs that will stick in the fur of your pet and could pose problems for their feet. The dog parks on base aren't even worth running them in due to this issue and that is unfortunate. There is a laundry facility on base away from the park that is 24/7. Cost is 1.50 for a wash and 1.00 for dry.

What a great bargain. This is our 2nd visit this year. It is a small park, but all 8 FHU spots are pull thru. They are a bit narrow, so it took a minute to make sure slides and stairs were in the right spot and we did have to add wood blocks to our rear jacks to level properly. The park is close to the commissary and small BX. Our only disappointment is that they don’t have diesel at the base base station. White Sands National Park is worth the trip too!

Had forgotten that sites aren’t level but with an extra block under rear jacks was able to level out. Pull through sites plenty long with a concrete pad beside. Thinking that large coverings were added over the table and concrete pad since our last stay. This is a quiet place with minimal activity on the base, over weekend or holiday. Overall we like this one, good place to ride bikes around and not worry about traffic.

Stayed for 10 nights. The folks at outdoor recreation were friendly and helpful both when we called for a site and after arrival. If you like to hike or mountain bike this is the place for you. Sites are as previously described and we enjoyed the cover.

Stayed one night, beautiful setting (the view of the mountains were unbeatable). Full hookups were available and easy to use. Each site had a covered picnic table and outstanding feature in a hot climate. The check-in location is a good walk from the rv sites only drawback. The directions are a little off, the is no sign on 70 indicating SR213.

As others have said "Club house" closed due to COVID, but the club house is just a meeting room. The Showers and bathrooms on the side are open. Sites are all drive through, with a cement covered patio and cement picnic table. We arrived a few hours before "The Storm" hit. We had a foot of snow and wind in the morning. Looked like a Wyoming blizzard. The cold and snow only lasted a couple of days and then it got nice. We were able to take the "back gate" south into El Paso, TX, and we took many drives to Las Cruses, NM, and White Sands National Monument. We spent one week in full hookups and one week in electric only over flow. Just note that overflow is basically parking along a street with a power pedestal. The price is right. $10 for full hookups and $5 for electric only. HOWEVER note the prices are going to go up to $15 for Full and $10 for Electric only. The only negative thing I have to say is about 75% of the spaces are taken up by contractors or other folks that are stationed at the post. While I don't mind that, I do believe that MWR is missing their objective. They are acting more like base housing and less like Morale Welfare and Recreation! To that point, there is a lot of land around the area, and I would recommend they expand their number of spots.

Still looks like the photos on this website. "Club house" closed due to COVID, so we really only used the site itself. Sites are plenty long but VERY narrow due to their positioning of utility stand as well as the in-ground light on a post. We had to leave the kitchen slide in during our stay because of the light pole. Combine that with the slope of the site...took us quite some time to get level and in position. Our first night was extremely windy gusting greater than 60 mph. Put the big slide in to reduce buffeting and got very little sleep. But hey, the price is VERY right! And we enjoyed the White Sands Nat Park the next day.

Very small family camp but, perfectly located to take in White Sands National Park. The staff, Todd, couldn't have been more accomodating and friendly. Great playground and wide-open spaces for the kids as well. You cannot beat the value for the money and the views are staggering.

What a beautiful spot. Sites were level and staggered so every site has a view. The shelter over the picnic table was appreciated so we did not have to put out our awning and worry if the wind would kick up. FHU for $10 can’t be beat. Even overflow has electric and water. We called ahead and were lucky enough to get a FHU site when we arrived. PX and commissary close early! Not a lot of dining options on base. Great paved walking paths near the campground, but stay on the paved paths the sticker burrs are nasty. If traveling to El Paso use route 213 south it’s so much easier. When arriving just take Headquarters St to Martin Luther King to the park no need to zigzag thru base.

Not much more to add from the previous reviews. Nice, quiet location for a great price. We made reservations, but the RV Park was only 50% occupied for this week. However, they will be full next week for the Battan March annual event. This time of the year, the winds came up VERY strong, but we had some very nice days as well. I prefer this campground over the Holloman AFB FamCamp. The missile museum is a MUST see. We greatly enjoyed our relaxing short time here.

RV campground with 10 sites, they take reservations ahead. For $10 a day this FHU campground cannot be beat. It is located on a small base in the middle of the Organ Mountains. With Las Cruces and White Sands National Monument approximately 30 minutes away there is plenty of things to do in the area. The Commissary is closed Mondays but there is a 7 day store (PX) open daily. There is no internet offered at the campground but you can get WiFi from the Bell Gym, the library on post or the bowling alley. Fri- Sat there are free movies shown at the theater. There is a Post Office on post that will accept general delivery packages. Though it is still listed on the maps/apps/military campground listings the golf course on this base is closed and will not be reopening. This is a great famcamp for anyone visiting White Sands National Monument as it just a short drive away.

We called a few days before our arrival and made reservations with Todd at the Outdoor Rec Office which is located within walking distance, on the mountain of the campsites, just beyond the Golf Driving Range. When we arrived I called Todd and asked which site was ours, he said just pick one, there should be three available, however, there was only two, number 2 & 7. We selected 7. The sites are narrow with steel poles, the electrical pedestal, a covered pavilion and lighting too close to the sides, so we pulled far forward to assure clearance of our slides. Check-in with Todd was easy and he was friendly. NOTE: Their reservation system seems a bit less than precise, as they allow folks to reserve a site, without knowing which site or how long you plan to stay. If a person shows up after hours and parks in a space, or if someone doesn't leave when they said they would, your site will be occupied when you show up on a Sunday or after hours without knowing who is on your site. They do have some electric only overflow sites available, which were occupied while we were there, however, site number 2 was never occupied. Commissary was well stocked and open on the weekends. The post museum was free and interesting. We very much enjoyed our stay.

We arrived after driving 5 hours from Carlsbad. When we arrived at 1:30, all 8 spaces were occupied and no one was showing any interest in hitting the road! Especially frustrating as we had reserved our spots a month ago. We checked Outdoor recreation for any notes for Sunday check in and found nothing. Phone went to vm. No after hours contact info. I can’t wait to hear the excuse when I call tomorrow!

Stayed at White Sands during this period. There are 8 full hookup spots looking right at the Organ Mountains. It is very beautiful and peaceful...quiet. The base was in a bit of a "down" time while we were there so limited hours on the commissary, etc. This base is pretty far from a lot of things but worth the drive. We also found services to be good as our tow car died and we had to have someone get on base to get it to a repair shop in Las Cruces. No problem. I was surprised as how quickly they got there and were able to get on post. The wrong address was on my notes for checking in to Outdoor rec, but they are within eyesight of the campground. It was very hot there in August but this was a great place to use to explore the area...a bit of a drive to things but that's New Mexico. The only wonky thing was the shower set up here. It was in a separate building a few steps from where the campers were parked but the shower was small, kinda creepy and not ventilated. I've been in much worse so no problem but be aware. I actually really loved staying here and would do it again. It was worth the drive to be in the area and to see White Sands. The fee, $10 a night for full hookups, can't be beat.

The base of WSMR is in a very expansive and desolate desert, surrounded by numerous weapons test ranges. The small campground is very nice with great views of the mountain range. Excellent hookups well positioned. Concrete picnic pads have a large shelter covering providing some relief from the intense sun. Check-in was easy; Anthony at the Outdoor Rec office was very accommodating. The post has all basic amenities. The Frontier Club is convenient and serves a great breakfast and lunch. Grassy park across the street offers nice dog walk area. As others mention the bathhouse is old, dark and musty ( the shower is in a closet in the bathhouse with little ventilation) this is the only draw back of this facility, and certainly worth the $10/night fee.

Our 25 ft LTV motorhome loved it. Site was level for us being nose down. We will return and spend a week. Only con was no showers. Price of $10 was extremely reasonable for the view! Outdoor recreation building 1338 was across towards mountains where you pay has some items to purchase. The exchange is small but we didn't check out the commissary.
