Onslow Beach Campsites and Recreation Area

Nice CG on the beach. All back-in sites with fairly level gravel sites. The 50 AMP sites each has a tin roofed shelter outside your door. Nice to have when the wind blows. Had a 2-bar Verizon signal. Stayed here 7 days and really enjoyed long walks on a very nice beach.

If you are into fishing, walking, bike riding, and the beach this is a great place to stay. You can even get a permit for your four wheel drive to surf fish. We had a campsite with the intercoastal outside our door and the ocean a very close walk. The FamCamp is located on base but miles away to be private. A lot of yacht activity on the intercoastal going south for the winter. Fishing villages around the area to buy seafood just in case you don't catch your own.

The campground is located in a remote area of the base. However, the CG is on the beach and only requires a short walk across the road to have sand between your toes. There is a boat ramp a few hundred yards from the CG on the intercoastal waterway. I like staying in the CG, having the kids over, and spending the day on the boat. The main commissary and exchange are 9 miles from the CG, but a service station, Burger King and seven day store are only a few miles.

this is my 3rd time here and i will come back many more times, the pier is gone and just maybe that will be back but not looking good so far. but as far as the RV Camping Site and Area is just Outstanding, if you have kids or dogs they will love it. Just make sure that you clean up after your pets. No fire Rings. That would be nice but oh well maybe they will put them in the future.

This is a great place to bring your kids. Beach is nice, shells everywhere to pick up and my kids collected 337 fossilized sharks teeth in 2 days. Small store at beach was nice and handy.

Very nice area, right on the beach, only complaint was speeding through the campground. It is posted 5mph and I did not observe any one abiding by that including employees.

Over all this I have been here 2 times and each is always a Joy, it just don't get any better that this. Fishing at the camp site or you can fish at the Beach.

Stayed a week and will stay again. Agree with other comments.

An update to our previous drive by. We stayed here for 4 nights. Fantastic! Staff very friendly. Most (all?) RV sites have a nice covered pavillion next to them with a table (no firerings or BBQs). Hookups are great; cable tv is great; wifi works very well (and I was not near the bath area. Now, a great thing: if you have a 4WD vehicle and have a DOD sticker (active/retired military) on it you can drive and park on the beach (even with leashed dogs) in the area south of the pier! Makes for a nice day on the sand. All you have to do is take the 4wd vehicle to the Game Warden's office and get a free pass that is good for a year. The Park office has all the details on this.

Campground has two Camp Hosts, of which I am one of them. This coming fall/winter, 14 of the 22 20/30A sites are scheduled to be upgraded to 20/30/50A sites. When completed this will give the campground a total of 26 sites that will have 20/30/50A.

We are here two to three times a year. Very quiet and clean. Right across the street from the ocean. Great beach! Love the Sea Shells.

Now has Wi-Fi internet access. The closer you get to showers/laundry the better connection. I was on site 7 and could not get connected. They are working on the problem.
