The site is NO LONGER CLOSED due to Hurricane Debbie. We were there at the end of March in 2025. (Just wanted to add that since the USMilCamp site still shows it.)
Also, the facility is now known as Blakeslee AF Recreation Area for on-line searches. Great folks. PERFECT location and zero issues. Convenient to the town of Kure Beach, Carolina Beach and about a half-hour drive to Wilmington. Don't miss taking the ferry (3 miles south) to Southport... marvelous town on the Cape Fear River. Also, the NC Aquarium is about a mile or so south of the campground. There are also cottages available. Nice, clean, but spartan. Bring your own. And you're only an easy five-to-ten-minute walk to the Atlantic Ocean on one side and a great fishing pier on the other side out into the Cape Fear
