Pros: This is a lovely RV park on a small, well-maintained, historic installation. You must check-in at the Lodging center on the beach before going to the RV park (center open until 10 pm). Staff are pleasant and efficient. They will assign you a site and give you keys to unlock the electric, water, and bathhouse. We arrived the day after the national marksmanship competitions ended (August 2024). The installation was very quiet for the week we were there. There were some small firearms training sessions midweek, but few overnight guests in the RV park, cottages, or motel. We enjoyed using the beach (4 blocks from the RV park). Lake Erie was clear and calm even during thunderstorms. We enjoyed riding our bikes around the installation visiting the static displays and historical plaques. As a retired military officer, I paid $43 a night for a well-maintained, asphalt, mostly level site, with a good view of the southern sky. Many sites have trees and shade. Most had picnic tables and fire rings. Verizon 5G cell service was adequate in the park. We did not use the bathhouse. Cons: There were some minor inconveniences. Some sites had holes where RV levelers had sunk into the asphalt. All sites are very long with electric and water behind the site. It was a stretch for our motorhome to reach them and reach the sewer too. The sewer is odd. You must awkwardly thread the 90-degree elbow on your hose through a hole in a heavy metal lid and then fit it into the pipe. You will need someone to hold it in place while you dump or you will have a mess. WIFI in the park is unreliable, but is available for free at the Lodging center. There is an Express Exchange and a small laundromat near the park. It is 3 blocks if you walk or 6 if you drive. The Exchange was open Tue to Thu, 10-3, when we were there. The laundromat needed cleaning and 5 of 6 dryers were not working. It was $1 to wash and $1 to dry (45 min).
