The park is small, and only back-ins but very close to the commissary & exchange. Concrete pads and fair amount of space between sites. Very disappointed to find out that this base commander does NOT allow veterans with VHIC cards to sponsor a spouse! We have been full time for over 2 years and have stayed at several bases and not one has ever not allowed me the ability to get a visitors pass with my husband as the sponsor with his service connected VHIC card. BE AWARE! We were eventually able to get a visitors pass because we caused a big enough stink and the Sgt. on duty offered to be my sponsor so we could get on base. So if you have a VHIC card be sure everyone in your party has access to the base as well.

One of the smaller rv parks we have visited. The new rate is $22 per day. We were close to the commissary and BX. No issues navigating the main gate barriers with a fifth wheel. Only con was stickers in most grass areas for our dog.

Having been here before, I knew to ignore my GPS trying to get me to go to the commercial gate. The barriers at the main gate are easy to navigate, just take your time. I had made a reservation and was given my site assignment at that time. I was able to go straight to the FamCamp and get set up before going to the Outdoor Recreation Office to complete the registration. It had been five years since my last visit and the office parking lot is still not RV friendly. The commissary and exchange are small, but well stocked. The campground was clean and I would stay here again.

TERRIBLE!! Stayed here for 6 months. There is no monthly rate and charge is $17 a day, the equals out to over $500 a month. They packed 13 slots into a space that is smaller than a fast food parking lot. You walk out the front of your RV and 10 feet in front of you is the sewer dump from your neighbor. The picnic table is 15’ from the neighbors sewer dump along with the grill. There is no quick access to a Tornado Shelter. You must drive to the closest shelter. No shade and an unmaintained road. When I requested a lower cost since the electric cost nothing to the base and neither does the water, they said they will not change the price. I was told that they have to pay for the WiFi so that is in no way worth the cost. The FAMCamp here gets over $5000 from renters a month and they use the money to offset other base facilities like the pool, bowling ally and theater. They refuse to reinvest into the shoebox size fam camp in anyway. You don’t even get free access to these other facilities that you are helping pay for. You are 100 yards from the front gate and less than a 1/4 mile to the base gun range. Guess what when they do a 2300 night shoot you get to hear it all night. The current commander of the FSS and the prior have been rude and seem to be happy taking advantage of those at the FAMCamp instead of taking care of them, even after an IG complaint. I would highly encourage you to look elsewhere in the Altus area! There are less expensive more friendly camps that offer just as much!!

Arrived in the afternoon, stopped by Outdoor Recreation which was closed(Closed Wed and Sun; Hours are 1000-1700). After doing that little dance we made our way through the maze of construction and pulled into the famcamp. Our GPS tried to takes us to another gate but we followed the directions on this page. Some sites are marked and some aren't so I knocked on a door and asked what his site was. Finally got backed into #4. They need to do some serious tree trimming in this site for sure. The site is concrete and fairly level and you are parked across the street to the BX and Commissary. No diesel fuel at the gas station. We had to do some creative parking to use our on-board satellite dish but we finally got a good DTV signal. Our Verizon phones were at 5 bars of 4g service. They do offer WiFi but the password April gave use would not work. I called and she gave me another one and that didn't work either so I finally gave up. We would stay again.

One of the smaller famcamps we have visited this year. The new rate is $17.00 a night for 2018. There are 12 sites with concrete slabs, picnic tables, BBQ grills, grass and shade. Location is next to the BX and Commissary and gas station. No restrooms or showers but very quiet and restful. Would stay here again.

Our GPS brought us in the back gate on the Northwest side. The guard directed us to the Fam Camp as best he could. We found the camp w/o problems and settled in. The young staff at Outdoor Rec were friendly and helpful but not experienced. The pads are concrete and mostly level. There is "grass" (don't go barefoot as there are lots of thorns) surrounding the pads as well as some trees. The water spigot needs repacked as it leaked profusely. I noticed there was Fam Camp Wi-Fi available but did not get any password from the staff. We have our own hotspot so it was not an issue. The power went out in the camp around 0630 and is still out as I write this. (Battery powered laptop and hotspot). Retreat at 1700, Taps at 2200 were heard over the base PA System. Rats... Coffee getting cold. Overall a nice stay.

The location was perfect for me as I graduated from Altus High School and was there to attend my 50-year reunion.  The FamCamp is small and was full.  We had reservation and an assigned site number, so was able to go straight to the FamCamp.  I got set up and then went to Outdoor Recreation.  Their parking lot is not RV friendly.  I’d suggest making a reservation or checking availability.  The sites are back-in, but there is plenty of room.  The main gate was tricky to negotiate in a 39’ motorhome pulling a car.  There is a commercial gate, but it is not clearly marked.  The rate is $17 a night and the Wi-Fi worked well for us.

They did not honor the famcamp discount program and their rate was $17 night. The office is closed on Sunday, but opens 10am on Monday. The site is small with six sites back to back (total 12). The sites are not big rig friendly and do not have toilet or bath facilities. The Wi-Fi requires an access code and lost connections/required re-log-in several times while trying to check e-mail. There are several rabbits running around the area that are fun to watch. The commissary and exchange are across the street.

We went to this base because we wanted to leave our RV in storage there for the winter. It's very small & out of the way, but it worked for our purpose. The people at Outdoor Rec were very friendly & helpful. There are NO amenities in the campground besides full hookups, which was fine for us. The small town of Altus is close, with plenty of fast food & restaurants. The commissary on the base is very small & the Exchange is really for ordering. If you're traveling across country, Fort Sill or Tinker are probably better choices.

As mentioned before, this is a fairly quiet and small RV Park. There's no "amenities" in the RV Park - no restroom, no shower, no WiFi. Just FHU RV sites. However, showers can be used at the Gym and the Commissary and Exchange are across the street. This location is out of the way, so you would have a reason for coming here. But if that's the case, it's a good place to stay if in the area. Outdoor Rec staff were very friendly. This time of the year, there were a few available RV sites. We arrived without a reservation. Price is good for this military campground (maybe a little high, since there's no amenities in the RV Park). I wouldn't hesitate staying here again, if I was in this area.

The back-in cement pads are level and 40'l & 15'w. The sites are poorly identified by site number. The yellow numbers painted on the cement in the front of the site are either missing or faded to the point that you can hardly read them. There are new electrical pedestals to the rear of the pad with water and sewer located there also. The sewer drop is enclosed in a 8'x8' cement enclosure. WiFi is not available. Recommend larger units exit thru the commercial gate SE of the FamCamp. Exit on 1st St and on to Ordinance Rd and turn right on N 2070 Rd at the stop light to exit to Hwy 62. Barriers are well spaced for a safe exit. There is no shower/laundry bldg at the FamCamp. The fee of $15.00 per day is still a good value. The ITT/Outdoor Adventure Ctr in bldg 343 for registration and payment is the first bldg on the right side just south of the roundabout on 1st St. This office is closed in the off season on Wed and Sun. The staff was helpful and professional. The website does not indicate the maximum length of stay. There are a couple of sites that appear to be occupied by homesteaders. Diesel fuel is not available on base. The Altus Club which is located across the street from the commissary serves a buffet lunch from 11AM-1PM Mon-Fri. The food is excellent with a good variety and good service. The commissary is conveniently located next to the FamCamp.

Great little FamCamp if you have to be in the area. Close to everything. If you want a quiet place to camp, it's great. Neat, clean and nicely run.

Always very clean, quiet. Very close to bx and commissary. As for showers, if you have a toad why not use the gym showers. Really not that far to walk if you are in good shape. Lunch at the club is very good and close by.

Small campground within walking distance of most of the facilities on base. VERY clean. Great location in Altus for house hunting, exploring the area, etc. We will be going back in the spring.

J.H. left this review using the Directory software: Small, well kept campground. Level concrete pads with full hook-ups and picnic table. Outdoor Adventure Center staff was friendly and helpful. The sign at the campground incorrectly directs personnel to check in at the bowling alley. The bowling alley personnel said the check-in moved to the ITT/Outdoor Adventure Center six months ago.

Not a bad place to stay if your looking for a break from the road. They don't have bathrooms, laundry, or wifi. Still, a quiet place, full hook ups, and only $11.00 a night. Nice place to walk the dogs, and watch the sunset. The gym is okay, commissary and bx are what your would expect from a small base.

Clean as a whistle!! Huge turn around area for backing in...nice tables, private trash kiosks, and easy to find. Only drawback is that there isn't any shower, bath or latrine facilities at the camp. Commissary and BX are across the street and within walking distance. No camp host - check in and out at the bowling alley, apparently open 24 hours a day. Can't beat the value for $11. No wifi, however there is service at the library, and also there are four computers with wired access available for guest use at the base lodging office lobby. They work very well.

Stayed here for 1 week while waiting for a house. Facilities are new, easy back in spots. Few trees for shade. Tends to flood during hard-sustained rainfall, which is rare in this area. While we were there, a storm dumped 2 inches in 25 minutes!! Got up to 3 inches deep around the trailer. The "flooding" only lasted about 30 minutes. Working on new drainage construction which should prevent this in the future. No showers and 2 port-a-potties next to the site.
