This is a very nice park with full hookups, all sites are back in, nice laundry and restrooms. I was very surprised that they allow active duty members to live in the RV park, no wonder it took us so long to get a reservation. We totally understand this is a military training base/boot camp but if you like to sleep in you better be prepared to be woke up to drill instructors screaming at recruits as they march or run past the park. Overall a nice park which is close to Beaufort and lots of dining and shopping. We found the closest propane to be Tractor Supply.

We enjoyed our stay here and found the laundry room and restroom cleanliness have improved since past reviews. We did find the coin machine out of order in the laundry room and one washer not working properly. The trash dumpster was not overflowing and was in good order. You will never see anyone from MWR or a camp host but that is fine. The RV gate coordinates on this listing took us right to the original entrance to the installation. Some updates to info listed above for this campground - The "manned" front gate has moved to just before the traffic circle mentioned in the directions above. Also, at the traffic circle you want the SECOND right/exit onto 3rd BN Pond Drive. The other directions above are correct. Here are the exact GPS coordinates for the campground - N32.32673, W080.69725. Also, when you call for a reservation and get one they ask you to call back about a week before arrival so they can bill your credit card. And, they no longer use the lock boxes in the laundry room/restroom building. You just go to your site and the utilities are not locked. You will be given codes for the laundry room and restrooms although the doors were not locked when we were there. Lastly, in the this era of Covid, we were told to stay away from the commissary and exchange area until after 3:30 p.m. on Fridays due to graduation and if we went off base before then we would not be able to get back on until after 3:30 p.m. Here are a few things we like to do in this area. Hunting Island State Park is not far away and has some good kayaking/canoeing on the lagoon plus bike trails, a lighthouse, etc. The farmer's market in Port Royal (1615 Ribaut Road) every Sat morning 9-12 is good. Bike riding is good right from the campground to the left (as you face the road from your campsite) down to the water and around a circle) and also to the right from your campsite, then first right out to the golf course and back (there is a boardwalk and some historic stuff off the left side of the golf course parking lot). And in Port Royal there is a great rails to trails paved path (10 miles) called the Spanish Moss Trail - access at Depot Road (just put Depot Road, Port Royal in your GPS and follow it to the end) or access at 921 Ribaut Rd (Tech College of Low Country).

This rv park is trashy and I just came from 29 Palms, CA. The base should be ashamed of the lack of care at this rv park. The sites are decent, but the facilities are disgusting. There are dead bugs, spider webs, spiders and trash over flowing in the laundry room. The bathrooms are just as bad and not worth attempting to use. It looks like it has been months since someone came here to clean the facilities. The dumpster area is full of bulk trash that hasn’t been cleaned up. Sadly, this is the only area to stay if going through or stationed at PI. However, I’m grateful to have full hook ups so I can utilize my rv.

We did not stay here but did do a drive by to check it out and was pleasantly surprised by the location. It is tucked away in a quiet corner of the base but not far from the Exchange/Commissary. There is a camp host on site to help with new arrivals as well. We will definitely plan a stay here in the near future.

I was here in Jun 2016 and it was enjoyable. After this past weekend, I will have second thoughts about spending my time and money here. Following the above directions and a phone call with Cheryl the day before arriving, I was greeted with a total surprise. I called the same number to check-in and no one answered. I tried several times and all I ever got was that their mailbox was full and to leave a message. Instead of that, I called MWR. Maybe they didn't know the line was out. There was no answer here, and I got the same message. Since I can not get codes for the restroom/showers, laundry room or their wifi, I figured I would go find them. I had no map so I went down the street to the Golf Pro Shop. The two attendants had no idea what I was talking about when I mentioned Outdoor Recreation Center or MWR. The lady attempted to use her computer to get me an address, but she was very lost. I got an address from her, but I could not locate it. It was some type of Headquarters building. When all this failed, I returned to bldg. 1018 and found the "cubbies". Maybe my information was in there. The cubbies are like a post office box, but again, I had no code for this either. When I pulled on it, the large door came open for access to all the cubbies. It was obvious from then spider webs and dust that these have not been used in a long time. I'm glad that my guests had to cancel their trip. This would have not been the example I set for them when we planned the trip.

We stayed here two weeks and enjoyed our stay. All the sites are back-in but we had no problem with a 42' 5th wheel. We had site 9 and the WI-FI was good the cell service was acceptable. The RV park is an easy drive to the commissary and exchange. The golf course is just down the road and in very good condition. The facilities were clean and the amenities consist of restrooms and laundry facility. The only negative is we were here for two weeks and the grass was only mowed one time and that was just before we left. We would stay here again.

Getting here is the trick and the instructions are pretty much on. One item since the original instructions is the gate has been moved to just before the "circle." I found that the if the address is 1018 St. Mihiel Rd. Port Royal, SC., that it will take me right to Bldg 1018 at the park, or pretty darn close by yards. However, my GPS wanted me to turn onto Saigon St. That is the old trailer park (wish they would turn it into an RV Park) and the roads are grown over, but it can be done. Instead, ignore the Saigon instructions and go to St Mihiel Rd just a little pass Saigon St and turn right. The so called RV Park signs are very small and crowded on the sign post with a bunch of other items. One would have to be going extremely slow to be able to read the sign. The key to getting to the RV Park is "Wake Blvd." Whether coming down 3rd Bn Pond road, or Malecon Dr, turn right on Wake Blvd. When you see the Wye bear to the left and proceed to Mihiel Rd. All sites are back-in. There is a slight hump to rise over when backing in so that one can get both sets of jacks on relatively level ground. RV Pad is gravel/crushed rock and there is a cement pad with picnic table and patio area. Patio side has the nice shade from the RV and Awnings during the afternoon. WiFi for me was very good. Anytime the computer goes to sleep one has to log on again, but not much of a problem. Depending on ones RV hooking up to sewer could be a challenge but only if you do not have enough sewer hose. I used a 15' and a 10' with the 10' only extended about 6-7 extra feet. A 5 foot extension would not have worked for me. The rating for location is a 4 only because everything is far away. I could not get the code to work for the bathroom but the general areas were clean and tidy. There are no amenities but it is still a good value for the money. We stayed here in a 43Ft Motorhome. The actual RV Park road runs parallel to the thoroughfare road and is very narrow and one-way. Longer RV's, 40' or more and maybe even 38Ft'ers. Making the turn onto the thoroughfare is very tight. This morning a 40'er without a TOAD connected had to back up to make the turn. My intention is to pull out against the one way and hook up that way. The transition then is much easier.

We were the only site with power during our stay. Our site was the first site right of the restrooms. We had no issues with our stay. Mainly writing this review to see if any others have been there in the past several months and if power has been restored. Hoping to be back in the area and will only stay if there is power. The generator noise all night is to much like a roadside rest stop. Any updates?

Tried to make reservations today, 7 Jul 17 but also told the campground was without power. The power has been out since September of 2016 because of Hurricane Matthew. The office personnel advised they were expecting repairs to begin in the middle or late July 2017 but if you were in the campground using generator power you would still have to vacate the campground when repairs began and they would give you a refund. They advised they were in limbo and had no exact dates when repairs would begin. Semper Fi

We tried to make a reservation for a short stay at Parris Island. We were told the electricity is out at the RV Park and the entire electrical system will be replaced during the summer months. We could still stay at the park but would have to use our generator for electricity. Hope this info helps others with their trip planning.

What a beautiful little place. Only 18 sites, but everything was great. Sites were level crushed rock and two pads. One with the new table on it and one for a patio. Power and water pressure checked out good and sewer was right along side the power pole. Great area to explore history if you travel to the golf course where the Spanish and French Occupation took place in the 1500's. Showers were large in the bathrooms which were old but very clean. Laundry was also dated but clean with 2 washer/dryers at $1.00 a load. This is South Carolina, so bring bug spray for mosquitos and biting flies. I only marked down hospitality due to no camp host or anyone to represent the Famcamp. We did not get to the main base, but shopped at the commissary/exchange that was minutes down the road. There is still a lot to do for our next trip which we will make. Directions to the famcamp seem strange, but with your co-pilot reading and watching also; no problem. There is no cable, so bring movies or a satellite for entertainment. You can also rent movies at the red box at the exchange, just minutes down the road. My complements to the base. We took this trip on, not knowing anything about the base or facilities. It was a great decision and we will return.

As I looked at my previous "star ratings" from our last visit to Parris Island RV Park, from 2013, I guess I have gotten a little bit more critical of RV parks over the past few years! Nevertheless, this is still a very nice and quiet place to stay at a very good value. The gravel sites are level, the hookups are very good, WiFi is very good, and the extended concrete patios with quality picnic tables are a nice touch. The decent size commissary and MCX are just a couple of miles from the RV park. Given the relatively low volume of traffic on base, it is a good place to take a bicycle ride and watch the Marines train--very awe inspiring. There is still no recycling available on the RV park grounds, but the base housing manager allowed me to bring my recyclables to their office. It would be nice if they installed a recycling bin directly on the RV park grounds since recycling is available elsewhere on base. Verizon cell phone and data reception is OK, but not great at the RV park. The lockbox/keys arrangement is no longer used at the RV park. I paid for my eight day stay in advance (over the phone), was given a site number, and simply pulled into my site and hooked up when I arrived. We would definitely stay here again if we were in the area.

THE good: Water, Electricity, sewer, very clean bath house, WiFi that seems to timeout frequently, concrete pad with table. THE bad: No cable, wet and mushy, no fire pits, fire aunts, attack raccoons, bitting sand fleas, no appeal, no beach, all amenities - playground parks, beaches, restaurants are a 15 minute commute. Please don't misinterpret my review. DW and I love the area and think of Beaufort as home. With all the construction on PI, I would believe an updated RV park is in the future. If you are looking for a quaint, out of the way place to park your RV on the cheap, you can't go wrong here. Would I stay here again... Yes. I just don't see it as rating 4 stars.

The weather in the Carolina’s during October and November is usually very pleasant so we planned our autumn trip to the Carolina’s and Virginia for this period. Our first stop was Parris Island. We stayed at the PI RV Park for seven days with the intention of playing tourist in the local area. It rained for the first six days of our stay which put a damper on our tourist plans. However, the weather was absolutely gorgeous on our last day and we took advantage of it by visiting downtown Beaufort – what a wonderful experience. Now about the PI RV Park. As stated in other reviews, the RV Park is located in an isolated area near Elliot’s Beach (which is really not a beach, it is a picnic area and a site for Marine recruit Land Navigation training). The RV Park provides an excellent location for the families that come to attend the three days of family activities associated with recruit graduation. We give the Marine Corps a big kudo for providing such a place for friends and families of our Marines. A visitor should plan for a means-of-transportation to and from the main side if they are here for the graduation. We did not lack for any amenities at the RV Park during our stay. All of the 18 sites are back-ins with full hookups. There is plenty of space around the sites which will accommodate the largest of RV’s. The lack of shade on the sites during the “hot and humid” summer months may create an uncomfortable situation. We went for super-enjoyable long walks in between the rain showers. The downside with the walks is you have to walk on the road; there are no sidewalks or hiking trails that we know of. During our stay there was not very much traffic so it didn’t distract from getting out there and enjoying the outdoors. We highly recommend that you wear bright clothing while walking on the road. It is very easy to blend in with the shady landscape and become invisible to the automobile traffic. If we could make one recommendation, it would be: install street lights in the park. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning.

J.L. left this review using the Directory software: - Stayed here briefly last year and so loved walking along the salt marsh and beach that I wanted to return and stay longer. Only this year, I really felt the negative impact of some of the management issues. The lock box seems to be corroding with age and causing problems. I had trouble opening my assigned box, and also tried in vain to help others who were totally unsuccessful in opening theirs after hours (so never had utilities). There is no welcome packet in the box, just a key, so you're left to figure things out yourself. The combination to the restroom and laundry is posted on the wall (so why bother?). The facilities seem to be cleaned only on Monday, and although 3 extra rolls of toilet paper were left, this is hardly enough for the week. The manager does not return calls in a tmely fashion. It was almost a week before she called me back, and some calling about a site the same day never heard if one is available (and many sites were open). The manager's response, when you do talk with her, suggests that reservations are very tight, but it was never more than half occupied when I was here (5 nights). It's such a lovely location and decent facilities. With very little extra effort, it could be a real plus. At a minimum, 1) service or update the lock box facility 2) leave welcome sheets in the box and not posted, and 3) consider instead having an on-site host and non-site specific reservations. That could permit more campers to make use of the facility, increase revenue, and make eveyone feel more welcomed and oriented to the facility.

We stayed in a 35' coach for two weeks and had a very good time! The RV park is small and kind of out of the way, but it appears to be well-maintained, clean, grounds are maintained and Wi-Fi is accessible. We really enjoyed the area (highly recommend the beach at Hunting Island State Park: nice beach, not ever crowded, just $5 PP admission. We visited this beach 5 days out of the 13 we were here!) Parris Island is well situated for visits to Charleston SC & Savannah, GA - lots to see & do! HIGHLY recommend you attend an MCRD graduation on a Friday - an experience we'll always cherish. John S. Stayed 30 days. Lovely, spacious site. Amenities previously noted remain. Must have car or one would be stuck at campsite since the RV Park is very far from everything on base. We are beach folks so we had a pleasant 1/2 hr ride to Hunting Beach State Park. Water was heavenly, ocean bottom was pure sand so easy on the feet & minimal undertow. Wave action was more like ripple effect. Able to walk far out. Disliked having dogs & fisherman on beach at same time as myself. Need insect repellent for biting flies, mosquitoes & red ants at both beach & campground. Too hot & humid to sit outside until evening but sky clear. Campground not lighted so be prepared w/lantern & porch light. Cement pads nice but metal picnic table too far from cement slab next to RV to utilize as well as being attached to its own cement pad. Most afternoons had showers w/ thunder & lightening. One day storm appeared so rapidly & had severe gusts of wind & rain that before I was able to remove awning it was ripped off the brackets & flung over top of roof. Brackets holding system to wall of unit ripped out & flung over roof, left hanging on other side. Found excellent mobile RV service called Lowcountry RV. Needed to use a trash removal service to take entire awning system, now on ground, to wherever. No one on base made an issue of this debris on grass for several days until insurance adjustor & mobile RV service arrived. Trash dumpster was rusted & difficult to close the side door. Trash was strewn around the dumpster on ground & animals had been in it so it smelled & was a mess. Inhibited ability to put trash in dumpster & close door. Surprising mess for a Marine Corps base!! Would come here again in a flash for the peace & quiet, nearness to a fabulous beach & amenities. Gail, Retired Navy

This is a quiet campground with clean and spacious restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities. Sites are back-in and generously spaced. There are no shade trees. Be prepared for a delay at the rotary. Upon arrival at PI, our vehicles were fully examined by security and we certainly support these measures. The next two days in and out of that same gate there were not inspections. This is a good place to tour Beufort and other areas of interest. We camped in a 40-foot motorhome with tow car.

The pros: the campsites are a nice size with full hookups and they are level. We made our reservation 30 days in advance over the phone since there is no office or host in the campground. The office sent a couple to our door who told us we were in there site, also the office told them vagrants pulled in the campground all the time. There were several empty sites and these people thought we were just going to move. We had made a reservation and were given the site # we were in, the office had the dates wrong. Going by the day our credit card was processed we couldn't have made it on the dates they had down. Someone from the office called but never apologized for sending this couple to our door. I advised the office I didn't feel comfortable with these people in the site next to us and she said there was plenty of room for us to get along. These people ending up staying several sites down. We have no plans to ever go back to this campground. I generally try to give positive feedback for our stays, but our treatment here was not good.

Located next to an old housing area (everything removed), but near a beach. The location is quiet and away from traffic, but near to the base facilities. We enjoyed our short visit here. No WiFI, but Verizon and AT&T worked fine. Laundry was $1 to wash and $1 to dry. Clean facilities. There were about 9 available sites during our visit. We arrived without a reservation, but called when we arrived and paid over the phone. Easy check-in. The site utilities are "supposed" to be locked. When you check-in, they will give you a combination to a lock box. The lock box rack is outside of the restrooms. Each site has a small mailbox type box with the key to your utilities in it. Although we were given the combination to our lock box, the utilities were not locked (although padlocks were there). We wouldn't hesitate to return here.
