This is about the only RV park in the Shaw/Sumter area, so convenience reigns. But making a telephone reservation was fraught with issues (never resolved) that led to issues upon check-in. Staff didn't want to know about the issues when I brought them up. Finally resolved in person so I dropped them. Campground itself is quiet from road noise but has a number of LONG-term visitors (180 days allowed) and their sites show it. Some seemed to be in violation of the long list of rules provided but staff said they don't get involved unless there is something flagrant. Campers are close together but with enough room for slides and awnings and a small patio. The campground is quite a drive from the Main Gate but close to the Sumter (Truck) Gate when it's open (NOT on weekends or after normal hours). Do NOT use the Commercial Truck Inspection bypass unless told to do so at the gate; the security staff checking me onto the base wondered why I turned into their area in the first place. Oh, and don't bother asking for a paper map of the base or the FamCamp... you'll guess you must have grown a third eyebrow or split tongue the way people will look at you (FamCamp staff and Security personnel both).
