BIG RIG ALERT - The NAS Corpus RV park has two areas. Park A (at one time a mobile home park) has 28 essentially unlimited length grass sites with concrete patios. About half of these sites are pull-through. There is a restroom and washers, but no showers in park A. The larger Park B has concrete pads for parking and patio and all are back-in. Nice bathhouse, laundry and community kitchen in Park B. Most of the park B sites are about 40 feet long on the short side. All of the 30 amp and some of the 50 amp sites in park B are even shorter. To park my 45 foot tag axle DP in park B I have to back over the concrete parking curb at the back and put that axle on the grass (which isn't a problem). What is a problem is that most of the concrete curbs are deteriorated and the rebar is sticking up. Not something I want to risk my tires backing over. We have stayed in this park dozens of times (we started with a 16' TT, then a 37' fiver, and now a 45' DP) we've never had a problem getting an appropriate site. Last week we made an online reservation with Navy Beds and received a confirmation email for a "30/50 AMP PULL THRU PARK A." When we got here we were told that all the sites in park A - including all the pull through sites - were now reserved for active duty and "long termers" and all "recreational" users were to go to park B. We explained to the manager that we couldn't use the park B sites and we'd have to go elsewhere. He explained that the new policy had come from far up the chain of command, but he made a couple of phone calls and made an exception for us. I don't think it is his fault, but this policy obviously comes from someone who doesn't have all the facts and is trying to solve a non-problem. As I look around Park A it looks like most of the pull through sites are occupied by long termers in big fivers and a few small TT's. More than half of the back-in sites - which are the logical sites for long termers - are empty. I'm all for giving the choice sites to active duty troops, but it would be nicer for everyone to put the small TT's in park B near the bathhouse, laundry and community kitchen rather than just blindly assigning sites by status rather than need.

Ok, gave this place a try for the winter. Stickers! What a ruined down campground, I'd be embarrassed to bring someone here. The salt air takes its toll on all metal, and the rain takes toll on the stationary structures. Over grown, unkept greenery shows a lot of neglect. Stickers! Rodents have torn up the grounds. Storm drains don't flow so standing water for the mosquitoes. Stickers! Now the good. Nice level spots with easy parking and the price is about what you would expect for a place in this condition. All utilities and dump worked. Free laundry was nice with a limited dayroom area. I spoke with a fella in town involved in building this place (old mobile home park), good laughs. "They haven't put a cent into that place since". Stickers Much of this upkeep with the landscape is a poor relationship the front office has with the contractor. Horrible job. Maybe it's the First Sergeant in me, but, please, take some pride in this place MWR. Stickers! There was self appointed "busy body" complaining about everybody else. No rules were published, like a welcome packet, so this guy reminded you! Lastly the place has been over run by stickers (thorns, burrs) so watch your pets in the green area. That and the poop people don't pick up.

THE RV PARK OFFICE IS NO LONGER AT THE MARINA OR CHAPEL. Big flashing sign at the main gate tells people the RV office is now at building 4008 (the auto hobby shop near the commissary). Yet, every day we see people trying to check in at the marina.
Not many other changes, lately. Price went up recently to $25/night which is still a bargain. Same friendly faces in the office and great camp hosts. We had a reservation for a Sunday and they called at 3 pm the day before to give us our site number.

Great Park, We are in the A loop near the old Marina. Two big items of note. First, the MWR office for the RV park is now in Bldg 4008, the Auto Hobby Shop. Turn in at the Exchange, it's toward the back of the lot, red metal roof. Sign in is inside the shop work bays. Second, and VERY IMPORTANT, there are a LOT of low TREES on some of the side streets around the Hobby shop and the A loop of the park! BE CAREFUL, I was able to fix my AC Unit, but still need a replacement bathroom skylight. My fault, not the parks, but please watch out. Sites are clean, with concrete patios. B Loop has paved sites, but they don't look big rig friendly. Nice Park, We'll be back, but more cautious.

This is our favorite campground and we hit it several times each year. There have been a few changes in the last year. First, the check in office moved from the marina office to the old chapel (Bldg 332) then (currently) to the auto hobby shop. When you come in the main gate, pass the hospital then look to the right and you'll see the NEX/Commissary. Turn right before or after the NEX and you'll see the Auto Hobby shop just beyond the commissary. Pull through the gate into the fenced area behind the building for check-in. Price is now $22/night (100% DAV) for a 50Amp site. Also, in the past the office personnel encouraged calling them to make reservations. Most recently, they have a recording on their phone to call Navy Beds for reservations. https://get.dodlodging.net/propertys/Navy-Getaways-NAS-Corpus-Christi-RV-Park While there are a lot of homesteaders - about 50% retired military and base employees (there are a couple of dozen federal agencies on base) - they are the only residents in hot summer months so they are keeping the place open. The snowbirds start arriving about Thanksgiving and the place is full from about Christmas until March, but they seem to keep a few sites for transients/short timers and we've never not been able to get in. There are about a dozen (dry) overflow sites and a dump station. If all else fails Mustang Island SP is just over the bridge on the island and they allow beach camping. About 15 miles down the island is Padre Island National Seashore and they have dry camping. Not much else has changed, great park, clean facilities and great location. Biggest complaint is that some of the RV park roads really, really need repair. Wind blows 100 mph 10 months of the year and it is hot in the summer. (Surprise) Small commissary and exchange on base have all the necessities. The only place on base to eat is Panda Express and is to be avoided late in the day. Commissary has sandwiches and sushi at lunchtime. Just outside the main gate is a Walmart, an HEB grocery and an assortment of junk food places. A block from the gate is Paul's Seafood market with good fresh seafood. This is not a good place to be if there is a hurricane in the Gulf. If the storm even thinks about heading toward Corpus all the roads going inland become parking lots. Cell wifi can be spotty depending on site. Campground wifi to slow to stream. We have Tmo and Verison hotspots and get fairly good bandwidth, however the Tmo 5G home internet usually pushes 100 meg or better.

Love this place, first visit, but will be back. Camp host very friendly, MWR staff very helpful and easy check in. Sites are big rig friendly, level concrete pads. Right on the bay with a lovely walk down the beach. Convenient to town. Commissary is well stocked. Lots of jet noise, but it is a training base, so that is to be expected. Seemed to be a lot of full time residence, but still plenty of spaces available for short stays. Great place, will be back. FYI: Weather can change quickly, high winds.

This a nice camp ground to just chill out, which we like to do! The sites are laid out and spaced in such a way (the ones with the concrete pads) that you feel that you have a lot of room between you and your neighbor. We've been there in summer (never again), fall (great) and spring (so so). Too, hot and humid in the summer and the wind in the spring, is unfortunately is practically non stop. We love it in the late fall! I thought that the wifi was poor. We used our phone as a modem to stream Netflix and Prime for our tvs. Excellent signal with Xfinity. I played golf a couple of times, winds too strong most of the time for my liking. We enjoyed several seafood & TexMex (even though we're from northern NM and our chili is the best!) restaurants in the area. My wife found some excellent deals at Dillards for their end of the season clearance. So, we were happy campers, wind not withstanding! Obviously we like the place! ****The checkin office has temporarily (the staff didn't know for how long) relocated to (I believe the bldg. # is 332) the old "chapel" It's on the main road just passed the golf course with a big sign saying "RV checkin here" or something to that effect.***

Another successful adventure! This RV park has gotten better every time we visit. There were fewer sticker burrs and mosquitos than our last 2 visits. Not sure if it was a coincidence. Navigating into and out of this park is super easy and all spots are wide and plenty long enough to accommodate the bigger toy haulers. Again, the commissary and exchange are adequately supplied. Nothing against the RV park but the gas station on base has been out of commission for over a year and a half. So, get your fuel on the way in or way out. The Walmart is within 2 miles of the gate and there is an HEB gas station just across the highway. God bless America!!!

We just can't say enough good things about NAS Corpus and the campground. If you're late, your camp package is at the door of the sailing center, under the porch, waiting on you with all the info you need to be successful. The staff is great and helpful too. We did not use the laundry or the rest room/shower so we can't speak to those; but, the commissary, barber shop, exchange and auto center are excellent. The auto center has air/water for your vehicles if you need it and some oil/air filters, windshield wipers, etc. In the past, we have had to change our arrangements last minute and this has never been a problem. Ava at the desk is awesome and goes out of her way to help. Remember, if you are DAV and NOT retired, you will have to stop at the gate and register yourself and your guests if you have any. If you arrive after the pass office closes, the guards are kind to let you through for the night as long as you take care of that business the next day. In the past, the mosquitoes and ants were bad; but, this time, not so much. We were told by the MWR folks at the awesome golf course that they had been spraying for bugs which reduced the ants and mosquitoes. Make sure to visit Malaquite Beach and go on south to drive on the island. You can drive 80 or so miles down Padre Island if you have 4WD. Go Navy!!! God bless America!!!!!!

We stayed only 4 days in the grass sites next to the check in office. They were fine and I believe there is more space between the sites than the ones with the concrete pads. Unfortunately there is NO shade, except a couple lucky people! Even then it is minimal! Yes, it’s breezy. I was able to deploy my awning for a while a couple days. We left early because our a/c had a hard time keeping our 38’ class “a” comfortable. In shaded areas it works just fine. We’ll be back, but not until late fall or winter. The golf course was nice and green (all brown last November). They had just punched the greens, but I still had fun. Just have to drink lots of Gatorade, particularly this time of the year.

Before any other comments there are two important things reviewers need to know: 1. If you call the Navy's toll-free NAVYBEDS number for reservations, they will tell you the NAS-CC campground is closed due to COVID. That is incorrect; the campground is NOT closed. Call the extensions ending in 94 or 95 so you can speak to a person (vice voicemail greeting) and they will help you. Super friendly and supportive! 2. As other have commented, the Site B campsite is infested with ground burrs ("goat heads") that will torture your dog's feet and drive the poor thing crazy. I don't know if the burrs are seasonal or year-round, but they are definitely troublesome. Other basic things to know: The base has two campgrounds--Site A and Site B. Neither have pull-through sites; they are all back-in. Site B appears to be the more modern of the two and it is the one closest to the water. Site B has 30-amp sites and 50-amp sites. The 50-amp sites appear to have been upgraded and have nice concrete pads with full hookups. The 30-amp sites have full hookups also, but not nearly as new. Overall the entire range of MWR facilities at NAS CC are far past their prime. The campground hosts are super friendly and do their very best to keep the facilities clean and orderly, but they can't fix the roads or repair the buildings in dire need of maintenance and overhauls. We're grateful to the volunteers who provide this service. Our visit was pleasant, but we would not go out of our way to return. And that's a shame because it is obvious that this was once a wonderful place to camp and play. It only needs some TLC to return it to it's glory days. During the long weekend we were here the wind blew so hard every day no one could put up an awning. I don't know if it is always windy here along the Gulf, but it really diminished our overall experience. Of course the base and MWR can't control the weather! Be advised.

Site was good, like other reviews say water view. Stickers are horrible, poor dogs feet were so tender from pulling stickers out. There is no way to the dog run without going thru a sticker patch. Nice runs once you get there though. We were here during the record breaking cold and the base did a great job keeping the water running, they gave plenty of notice on the winter precautions. Over all just an ok experience, probably will not come here again since the dogs could not enjoy themselves! What can I say, we live for our fur babies!

They have two areas and they offered us our choice of the two sites available, both on the marina side. Drove across the grass per their instructions to get to our site (rig parks on grass right next to concrete pad). Roomy site with a picnic table and we sat outside enjoying the sunshine for a bit until it got too cold in the breeze. Commissary and Navy Exchange not far away, easy to get to. Best thing is the view of the beautiful blue water--suspect almost every site at the park has some sort of water view. Would stay again given the chance.

This was our first time at NAS CC and it did not disappoint. It was a little windy, but other than that, the weather was great. The sites were concrete and level and no issues with the hookups, all worked as they should. The bathroom facilities were clean and more importantly....warm for morning showers. Garbage cans are plentiful and there are a couple of buildings throughout the camp where you could have a large gathering inside. The beaches were mostly clean, except for a dolphin carcass that had been on the beach for the four days prior to our getting there, and was still there when we left. The only other negative is the amount of goathead stickers in the grass. My dog would not even go in the grass after the first night due to the number of stickers in his paws. I would go back again, but my dog will wear booties next time.

We made another 10 day golf vacation here at NASCC and loved it. I can’t say enough good things about the park and the staff. Yes the goat head stickers are horrific but South Texas is full of them. On a good note, the mosquitoes were not around since the cooler weather was upon us and the golf was very pleasant. Again, the exchange is perfectly stocked and the commissary more than adequate. If you are service connected and NOT retired, you have no sponsorship privileges. This means you will have to register your spouse in the gate office. This could take some time so be prepared and have their ID handy. Initial check in at the park requires dog vaccination records so be prepared for that as well. COVID protocol and masks are required in all buildings. Enjoy and God bless America!

We were very pleased over all with the facility. The concrete pads were very helpful for my wife who uses a walker. If you venture out in the "grass" you'll end up tracking goat heads into your rig. I feel sorry for kids and pets as goat heads are everywhere! The staff in the office is very friendly! We needed some unexpected repairs (both satellite dish and water heater crapped out) within 2 days of each other. Dorthy in the Marina office gave me the name of 3 mobile RV services and I used Mel with Gulf Coast RV Services. He was great! So, if you find yourself in need of repairs, he comes highly recommended! Much to my surprise the golf course is mostly brown grass, except for the greens, which were in pretty good shape. Since I'm a lousy golfer & use to paying in the ruff, it was "ok" for me, LOL! The price is right, $20 for twilight (13:00) during the week (including a cart). If you like fried seafood and Mexican food (including seafood) lots of good restaurants are in the area. A rather unique item to this area is "driving" on the beach! On both Padre Island and Mustang Island you're allowed to drive on the island and park right at the waters edge. Folks put their beach chairs in the surf and just chill out. It looked like one can walk 50+ yards out into the surf and only be chest deep. This time of the year the water temperature is 76 degrees, just right. Fishing is very big here as well as crabbing, snapper being pretty plentiful I was told. We'll come back again!

Our first time on the base in 25 years! This is an excellent park, in our opinion. The sites are spread out and at least 50 feet apart with full hookups. Ava in the office was amazing and helped us with a few snags in our reservation, dogs, etc. Seems like the gate's hand held scanners are touch and go. Sometimes they scan your ID and you're told to go ahead, and other times, they scan your ID and say you're not in the system even though you've been to the pass office and been cleared. I guess this is something that will get better over time. Mosquitoes are horrific most of the time. You get a small break from 2-6pm or so, then they are back on the hunt. Common to coastal areas of Texas though. Commissary and exchange are more than adequate and there is even a Panda Express in the exchange parking lot if you enjoy that sort of food. Mustang Island is within 15 minutes and has great gulf beaches. We enjoyed our time here and will return for another stay. God Bless America!

Traveling to South Texas, we made reservations by phone to Corpus Christi RV Park. The rate was $17/night. We paid a total of $34...nothing additional. Arriving to the installation, the roads were fair to poor, signage was not impressive but eventually landed us to the RV sites. Finding the Marina/Check In area was another challenge, but we eventually found it. Walking in to the office, there were several young ladies working the desk. I gave my name and info to one lady, then was passed off to another, and finally the third lady assisted. They highlighted three sites on a park map and asked which one I wanted. I picked site 74. Once we checked in and supplied our Vet health certificate for both dogs, we were headed to our campsite. It was 30 amp, with water and sewer. The only catch...this particular site had hookups on the wrong side. We backed in to the site only to discover the hookups were on the passenger side. Sewer was on the correct side but electric and water were on the passenger side. Fortunately our cord was long enough to reach. The site was fairly level. The park is on the water. There's really no beach area and hurricane damage is still evident. I understand there is a dog park but it was damaged in the storms and has not been rebuilt yet. The grass/sand spurs are prolific. Each trip with the dogs required despurring their legs before entering the RV. During our stay it was very windy. We were not able to raise our antenna due to the wind. But, we were still able to get a few channels. Verizon reception was very good. We will stay here again when in the area. It was very affordable.
