Our first time on the base in 25 years! This is an excellent park, in our opinion. The sites are spread out and at least 50 feet apart with full hookups. Ava in the office was amazing and helped us with a few snags in our reservation, dogs, etc. Seems like the gate's hand held scanners are touch and go. Sometimes they scan your ID and you're told to go ahead, and other times, they scan your ID and say you're not in the system even though you've been to the pass office and been cleared. I guess this is something that will get better over time. Mosquitoes are horrific most of the time. You get a small break from 2-6pm or so, then they are back on the hunt. Common to coastal areas of Texas though. Commissary and exchange are more than adequate and there is even a Panda Express in the exchange parking lot if you enjoy that sort of food. Mustang Island is within 15 minutes and has great gulf beaches. We enjoyed our time here and will return for another stay. God Bless America!
